Minister Shankar to join Congress soon
Mysuru: Forest Minister R Shankar, on Friday, said that he would officially join the Congress party soon.
Speaking to reporters after offering puja to the Dasara elephants at the Mysuru Palace premises, Shankar said he will join the Congress on an auspicious day.
Shankar, who had won the Assembly election on a Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party (KPJP) ticket from Ranebennur, had extended his support to the JD(S)-Congress combine while forming the government.
Rubbishing the rumours that he was not happy with the functioning of the coalition government, Shankar said, “I have never spoken against the state government and the coalition government is stable.”
When asked about filling the vacant posts in the Forest department, the minister said, as many as 60,000 people have applied for various positions in the department and 27,000 applications have been verified. An interview is scheduled for October 7, he added.
