Minister Shripad to Inaugurate Super Specialty Prasad Netralaya ‘Our Mission Your Vision’
Mangaluru: “Vision is the most important sense in a human being and the importance of this is felt only by a person who has experienced the lack of it. In view of providing world-class eye care with all facilities under one roof, we are proud to announce that we are opening our 5th hospital at Ujjodi (Near Mahakali Temple) NH 66, Mahaveer Circe (Pumpwell). This is aimed at being the finest eye hospital in the city with the best technology there is. All subspecialties with well-trained surgeons providing services 24X7 will be the strong point that we will be coming up with. We believe that the people of Mangaluru will greatly benefit from our project”, said the director of Prasad Netralaya Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu in a press meet held at Hotel Maharaja Bunts Hostel here on April 26.
Addressing the mediapersons Dr Krishna Prasad said, “Just the thought of living a life in darkness can creep one out. Let alone living with it. A defect in the vision can show up at any point and situation in life. Be it Congenital (at birth), developmental (growing age), accidental, old age related or due to systemic problems (diabetes, high BP). Technology, research and progressive learning has given us answers to most of these. Prasad Netralaya was initially established in 2002 with the aim of providing quality eye care to the local populace of Udupi. As time passed by, the need for better technology and services were felt. With this in mind, a full-fledged Eye hospital was started in 2010, which was the first exclusive tertiary eye care centre in coastal Karnataka”.
As time progressed, we noticed the fact that our people did not have access to the best equipment and this made us upgrade ourselves with leading technology. Over the last few years, we have reached a point where we can proudly say that we are no short of world class.
Cataract, Glaucoma, Refractive Surgery with Lasik and SMILE, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Squint, Retina, Cornea, Oculoplasty, Eye Bank are the many departments that are operational in our hospital. Providing eye care services 24X7 is also a commitment that we have carried ever since our inception.
We are also committed to giving back to the society and this has shown in our track record of conducting over 1150 free eye camps to the poor and needy. The charitable services are provided through the Nethra Jyothi Charitable Trust and we have covered 6 districts of Karnataka and also forayed into the neighbouring states of Kerala and Goa. Not to be confined to larger cities, we have started our branches in Sullia and Thirthahalli for the convenience of people who do not have access to quality eye health care.
In 2012 we started Prasad Netralaya, Mangalore at Lalbagh and we have been growing from strength to strength since then. We have acquired equipment over the years and we are proud that they are all of Top quality.
The economically backward patients will not be ignored at all. We have a full-fledged charitable wing supported by Dr Dayananda Pai and Sathish Pai of Century Group Bengaluru. The community ophthalmology department will conduct free eye checkup camps, conduct free eye surgeries, provide glasses-free/ at very nominal prices to the needy.
The Inaugural ceremony will be held on 29th April 2018 at 6:15 pm in the holy presence of Sri Sri Sugunendra Thirtha Swamiji of Puthige Math, Fr Godfrey Saldhana and Maulana Haji Abu Sufiyan Madani. The inauguration will be graced and conducted by Sripad Y Naik, Minister for AYUSH, Govt of India.
Partners of Prasad Netralaya Dr Vikram Jain, Dr Chinnappa A G, Dr Harish Shetty and Dr Jacob Chacko were also present.
