Minister Umashree to inaugurate Udupi district-level Kannada Sahitya Sammelana
Udupi: The Udupi District-level 11th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana has been organised from January 13 to 15 at the Government college grounds Brahmavar.
At a press meet held at the Press club here on Thursday, January 5, president of Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat Neelavara Surendra Adiga said that the three-day convention will be presided by writer Prof. M Ramachandra.
Umashree state minister for Kannada and culture and also women and child will inaugurate the convention on January 13 at 11:00 am. Dinakar Babu President Udupi Zilla Panchayat will hoist the flag and Birthi Rajesh Shetty will launch the procession of the Kannada Ratha at 9:30 am. Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat Neelavara Surendra Adiga will deliver the introductory remarks. Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge will inaugurate the cultural programmes while Sheela K Shetty vice president ZP will inaugurate the Book exhibition and Nalini Pradeep Rao president Udupi TP will inaugurate the Exhibition counter.
Children’s poetry and the literary meet will be held under the leadership of Ram Bhat Sajjanagadde and Uday Gaonker on January 13 at 2:00 pm.
The session will begin on January 14 at 9:30 am. Eshwarayya and U S Shenoy will preside over the session on Media. Vaidehi will preside over a session on the problems faced by women in the current scenario. Youth literary meet, Hashya Ghosti will also be held.
N S Adiga Brahmavar and Moideen Saheb (Education), Ramakrishna Achar, Matti Laxminarayana Rao, V Ganesh Koraga (Service), Sadhu Pana Manchi (Folk art), Yashavanthi S Suvarna Karkala (Literature), Mahabala Naika (traditional medicine), Fr Valerian Mendonca (Singing), Chandrashekar Shetty (Social Service), Umesh Nayak (service) will be felicitated on the occasion.
Mukhyamanthri Chandru former president of Kannada Abhivraddi Pradikara will deliver the valedictory address on January 15.
Arooru Thimmappa Shetty, Subramanya Shetty, Ashok Bhat, Prashanth Shetty were present in the press meet.
