Minor Girl Raped by Father, Two Held under POCSO Act
Konaje: Two persons including the father of the victim was arrested under the POCSO act by the Konaje police in Pavoor here.
The arrested have been identified as Hanumantha Laggapur and Vivek Shetty from Pavoor.
The victim hails from Bagalkot. Seven years ago the family had come to Mangaluru in search of work. The family rented a house in Killur. The victim who is a student during the holidays had gone to her native place in Bagalkot. The victim informed her aunt about the sexual abuse by her own father.
In this connection, the victim’s aunt filed a complaint in the Bagalkot police station in May and the police handed over the case to the Child Welfare department.
Later the case was transferred to the Konaje police station through Mangaluru CWC. The police began their investigations, even after counselling it was not possible to extract proper information from the victim. Later when the victim was sent for medical checkup it was confirmed that she was sexually abused.
The CWC took the girl into their custody and during the ongoing councilling, she revealed that her father along with Vivek Shetty from Killur had raped her. Based on her statement the Konaje police arrested both the accused.
The operation was carried out by the Konaje Police inspector Ashok P, HC Sukhalatha, Ashok and Kankanady SI Janaki.
