Missing Bihar origin Muslim Teacher along with students traced in Kumta
Karkala: A Muslim teacher along with 21 students from Bihar who had come to the Jamia Madeenathul Uloom, Madeena Masjid, Karkala for religious studies had reportedly gone missing since November 2 late night. They have now been traced by the police at Kumta on November 3.
According to ASP Karkala Rishikesh Sonavane, “A complaint was received from Abdul Samad on November 3 at 5:30 pm stating that a group of 21 Madrasa students from Jamia Madeenathul Uloom, Madeena Masjid, Karkala were kidnapped by one Mohammed Tayyab who worked as a teacher with the Madrasa. The children are in the age group of 8 to 16 and Mohammed Tayyab had taken them with him at 2 am during the night on November 2”.
Based on the details the accused was traced and all the children secured from the Kumta railway station at 7.00 pm. The rescue operation was carried out with the cooperation of Udupi and Karwar district police.
All the children from Bihar were brought to Karkala to study in the Madrasa by Mohammed Tayyab himself as he was teaching them Arabic. The expenses for the travel were borne by the management. Mohammed Tayyab had also taken money from the parents of the children to bring them to Karkala. When asked by the management to return the money taken from the parents to return, he apparently got upset and took away the children without informing the Madrasa management.
Are they Biharis or Bangladeshis? There is a parallel culture going on right in our own backyard. When did Karkala become a go-to place for Islamic studies for Bihari students? I wish we had a few real journalists to investigate these real stories in our own backyard.
