Missing Girl found Dead in Manipal, rape suspected
Udupi: A young girl, who went missing from her workplace on March 9, was found dead near the forest area at Moodu Sagri, Manipal on Sunday, March 10.
According to the preliminary investigations, the victim is suspected to have been murdered after rape.
The Victim, a native of Badami was presently residing in Nittur. She was working in a Shop at Kalsanka near Sri Krishna Temple. On March 9 at around 2:45 pm she had gone missing from her shop. The victim’s family members searched everywhere and later filed a missing person’s complaint at the Women’s Police Station on Sunday, March 10.
On March 10 evening a passerby noticed the body lying on the ground in Moodusagri and alerted the police.
Soon after receiving the information, Udupi SP Nisha James, Additional SP Kumarchandra and DySP Jaishanker along with forensic experts rushed to the spot where the Forensic experts collected the samples. Though the medical report will confirm the exact cause of death only after forensic tests it can be confirmed whether the girl was murdered after rape.
