And here we have a 36-year-old young man Sachindeva, the Vice President The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.-Bengaluru- a leading American global investment banking, securities and investment management firm that provides a wide range of financial services to a substantial and diversified client base, which is based in Bengaluru, who took a Cycling Expedition from 30th November -12 December 2017, covering a distance of around 2200 km, starting from India Gate-New Delhi ( 30th Nov) and reached completed his journey reaching Vidhana Soudha-Bengaluru ( 12 Dec). During his hectic journey, he covered places like New Delhi, Agra, Jhansi, Gwalior, Nagpur, Ananthpur, and Bengaluru.

Sachindeva a origin of Darbhanga in Bihar, has now connection with Kudla, having married Kavitha Shetty, (daughter of Ramesh and Susheela Shetty of Thokkuttu-Dakshina Kannada), who is also the VP at The Goldman Sachs Group, who are agriculturists. Right from his childhood and in his youth days, Sachin was a adventurous child, involving in many bike rallies, car rallies, and now taking up cycle expedition. Being a old student of The Scindia School-Gwalior, he was given a warm welcome when he made a stop at his school during this Cycle tour. The main intention of taking up this Cycle Tour was to spread awareness on Healthy Living, Air Pollution, and also to spread the message that India is a safe country, no matter what?

Sachindeva during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club briefing on his cycle tour, also mentioned that instead of blaming the government and public service, we all should join our hands for the development of the Nation. On the dais during the press meet, he was joined by the President of Rotary Club of Mangalore-Deralakatte Rtn Vikramdatta, and President of Rotary Club of Mangalore-Hillside, Rtn Vinayaka Prabhu.

Interacting with Team Mangalorean and narrating his story of his long 2200 km Cycle Tour -“UNLEASH YOUR LIMITS BY CHALLENGING UNLIMITED” – Sachindeva said “An endearing experience of a Solo Cycle Ride from Delhi to Bangalore covering 2,200km in 13 days crossing 7 states on a Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) from 30th November to 12th December to challenge personal uncharted limits and spread a message on “Healthy Living” Why? How? Why Solo? Why a MTB bike? – Questions, if not hurdles were what met me when this idea was flagged to colleagues and friends. Contrary to common agenda of ‘finding oneself’ through solo travel, I wanted to rather ‘create myself’; curiosity to find these answers made it more exhilarating to achieve it and the only thing kept me driven was the determination to finish what I started and the cause I strongly believe in “Healthy Living”.

“On 30th November 2017 – Keeping a tab on anxiety from the overwhelming welcome by ‘Scindia Old Boys Association’ – School Alumni, I was flagged off at India Gate to what formalized as unforgettable journey. The moment of surprise was when Hotel Marriott sponsored my stay at Agra as I was doing this for the very same cause which they support – “Healthy Living”. Adrenaline rush helped pass the first day with ease following which was a test of my resolve as I met with an accident on my way to Gwalior and injuries jolted me with shock; worrying for the tone for my entire trip, my will power took me through to the first of many hurdles that were destined on my way. As I reached Gwalior and visited my school “The Scindia School” (‘1992-2000) I was surprised by the grand welcome I received and encouraging words from the respected Principal, teachers and students that boosted an affirmative spirit and I felt empowered to say, “ Yes, now I can do it”. For a further boost to encouragement, “Gwalior Cycling Group” accompanied me in the flag off from Gwalior.”

“The reminiscing experience of old memories served as cold medicine to my injuries and helped me regain energy and blessings for rest of the journey. Next few days – I continued my ride across various cities and was felicitated by School Alumni at Jhansi, Sagar and Harrai before finally reaching Nagpur where I received another warm welcome. This was halfway through my journey and the significance was earmarked by Nagpur, which fittingly has the historical relevance of being the epicentre of India also known as “Zero Mile”. The warm welcome was not extended by mere friends but even strangers on the way and made substantial change in certain beliefs for life. Ranging the average around 170-200 km where each day was greeted and flagged off by Scindian Community but one of the most special recall was my stay at Abhinav Gaur’s house (ex-Scindian) in Jhansi”

“This moment marked yet another important event in my life which gave me the final boost and helped me realize the importance of this attempt. Abhinav’s daughter, an enthusiastic gatherer of celebrity autographs, reached out to me for an autograph after knowing that I am doing this event on Cycle alone. The little angel unknowingly defined a life changing moment for me and Abhinav himself being enthusiastic cyclist accompanied me for 40km on cycle to flag me off from Jhansi. Next half of the journey was completely as a lone rider with no support. Every day end passed by bringing more of a physically turmoil but though it was getting more challenging but mentally I was getting stronger.”

“Cycling was now an integral part of my life, a new transformation into creating a new identity and outlook towards life as I met new people, experience their lifestyle, and I realized the true inequality we live in and it redefined the meaning of true diversity. Pedaling across various other cities down South I was amazed by the surreal beauty of nature untouched by the hands of industrialization. Passing on the message to adopt healthy living and I helped set up a culture which would eventually help reduce pollution, traffic conditions and would ensure better and healthier life for our elders and young generation. Marking the end of journey on 12th December, I reached safely home where my family and friends were eagerly awaiting my return to celebrate the success and without their support this event would not have been a success, especially the unconditional support from my wife”

When asked what would be his message to the readers of Mangalorean.com, Sachindeva said, “Honestly, I can say – ‘India is definitely a safe country’, people are very generous and helpful. The cultural diversity gave my life the perfect Midas touch and made me reevaluate my thinking of materialistic beliefs. This triggered an inevitable question of years of complaining about the various social and economic conditions around us and finding just names to blame i.e. Governments or Individuals for the situation, have we made any conscious effort to make a difference? Be the change you want to see or succumb to a life of complaining and continue to feel disgraced in our mind. Thank you for your support and encouragement, and I need your support in my future endeavours too”

While Sachindeva is planning his next Cycle Tour of 20 days from Leh Ladakh to Kanyakumari in the nearest future, Team Mangalorean wish him all success and safe tour. Let it be yet another “Mission Accomplished?” journey for Him!
