Mithun Rai distributes 75 cows under ‘Badavara Manege Kamadhenu’

Moodbidri: To mark the Gau Puja, under the leadership of district Youth Congress president, Mithun Rai, distribution of cows and calves under the theme of “Badavara Manege Kamadhenu”, was held at the Swaraj Maidan, Moodbidri here on October 31.

The programme began with an invocation. Member of the Legislative Council Pratap Chandra Shetty inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. Alangar temple priest Eshwar Bhat performed the Gau Puja at the Swaraj Maidan.

Addressing the gathering Pratap Chandra Shetty said, “Congress is the only party which has given social justice to the people. The Congress party has given land to the people and implemented various schemes for their welfare. Today youth leader Mithun Rai has organized a meaningful programme by distributing cows and calves to 75 families involved in farming to encourage them in agriculture. By donating the cows, congress has become the ray of hope for the poor farmers”.

Former minister K Abhaychandra Jain in his presidential address said, “Under the leadership of Siddaramaiah, the Congress government has implemented many schemes for the welfare of the farmers. Congress leaders are not greedy for power, they are giving priority for social service and to help the people in their needs. In the coming days the congress government will bring “Pashu Bhagya” to support agriculture. We will distribute cows to the families in the coming days. Today by donating cows to 75 families, Mithun Rai has set an example, he is a role model to the society”.

Speaking on the occasion Mithun Rai said, “My intention is to uplift the families who are economically backward. We have chosen 75 poor families to whom we have distributed the cows. Congress is the only secular party where every religion is treated equally. Congress party also considers Cow as holy but some communalists are misusing the social media to defame congress. We have not given the responsibility for any particular organization to protect the cows. After performing the Gau Puja we have donated the cows to 75 families under the theme of “Badavara Manege Kamadhenu”. We do not need any advice from so-called Gau rakshaks to protect cows. In the coming days, we will distribute more cows to the needy families and brighten their lives”.

Mithun further said, “Good work done should be appreciated, the people of Moodbidri have supported our programme, we need continued support from the people to carry out such programmes.
