MLA Bava Flags off Vehicle Rally, Yashpal Launches MPL Trophy
Mangaluru: The launching of the MPL Trophy was held at the Panambur beach here on November 27.
Prior to the launching ceremony, a vehicle rally was held from the Nehru Maidan which culminated at the Panambur beach.
The vehicle rally was flagged off by the MLA of Mangaluru North Constituency Moideen Bava. Addressing the gathering Moideen Bava said, “Two of our youth Sirajuddin and Imthiyaz started the MPL in Mangaluru last year which was very successful. This is the second year and the MPL is getting more and more popular in Mangaluru. MPL will surely help in promoting the budding cricketers to the state, national and international level”.
He further said, “The MPL will be inaugurated on December 17, and to popularise it at the national and international level, the organisers have held the vehicle rally. While giving permission to the Vehicle rally, the district administration requested all to follow the traffic rules. We know that the youth in Mangaluru are famous for violating traffic rules during rallies. So, I request the participants not to embarrass the organizers by violating the traffic rules”.
Mahabala Marla speaking on the occasion said, “In India, we have the IPL, in Karnataka the KPL and now in Mangaluru we have the MPL organised by Siraj and Imthiyaz. They have created a platform for the budding cricketer’s to exhibit their talents through MPL. In the coming days, let the MPL players represent the state and the country.”
Dr Iftikar speaking on the occasion said, “MPL will surely encourage the players and promote them to play at the state and national level. I congratulate the MPL team owners and players for their continuous support for the second consecutive year.”
The trophy launching ceremony was held at the Panambur beach. Yashpal Suvarna inaugurated the programme by flying the kite. Later the MPL trophy was unveiled by the guests.
Yashpal Suvarna and Tulu Film Star Arjun Kapikad also spoke on the occasion. Organizers Imthiyaz, Sirajuddin, Corporator Prathibha Kulai, Yathish Baikampady, District general secretary Youth Congress Suhail Kandak, all team owners and others were also present. Madhu Mailankody compered the programme.
