MLA Lobo and Mayor Kavitha Launch Various Development Projects in City
Mangaluru: The MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency J R Lobo and Mayor Kavitha launched 6 development projects worth Rs 5.14 crore at different places in the city here on October 16.
MLA J R Lobo and Mayor Kavitha Sanil symbolically launched the development projects at Lady Hill circle.
Addressing the gathering MLA Lobo said, “Today we have launched 6 development projects at Maroli Suryanarayana Temple -Shanthiguri Road; Lady Hill Circle; Lalbagh Circle; Durgamahal -Bokkapatna road widening and other development work; Balmatta circle to Upper Bendur road widening; drainage, footpath development work and Borewells at Ladyhill -Boloor road. In Mangaluru under the premium floor area ratio (FAR) fund worth Rs 175 crores, various development works will be carried out, we have already launched 6 development projects at Rs 5.14 crore”.
MLA Lobo further said, “The electric poles on the main streets will be removed and underground cables will be installed. We have prepared a DPR of Rs 50 crore for the project with MESCOM and the work is under process. We will upgrade our City and under the able leadership of Mayor Kavitha Sanil the MCC is doing very good development work. We will make Mangaluru a model city in the country. In 5 months we will complete all the development projects in the city.”
Addressing the gathering Mayor Kavitha said, “Today we have launched 6 projects worth Rs 5.14 crores and next week we will again launch Rs 5 crore worth development projects. The two-lane roads within the MCC limits will be made into four lanes. In Mangaluru people face problems because of improper footpaths but in the coming days, this problem will be solved. Circles coming under MCC limits we will also be developed. In recent days the media has been highlighting potholes ridden roads. I request the people to co-operate with us, we have not paid the contractors filling potholes since the patchwork they carry out is damaged the very next day because of the rains. I assure the people that once the rain stops we will immediately repair the roads until then I request all to co-operate with the MCC. We need the support of the people of Mangaluru to develop the city.”
Deputy Mayor Rajaneesh Kapikad, former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde, Parish Priest of Urwa Church Fr Stany Pereira, Corporators Sabitha Misquith and Nagaveni were also present.
