MLA Lobo Inaugurates DFC’s ‘Goal For a Cause’, Fixing prosthetic leg to Sulaiman
Mangaluru: The Dubois Friends Kulshekar organised an Inter-parish Football Tournament with the theme “Goal for a cause”, at the Kulshekar Church grounds here on December 4.
The programme began with an invocation. Johnson Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering. MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency J R Lobo inaugurated the programme by fixing a prosthetic Leg to Sulaiman who lost his left leg 12 years ago while working in a Timber factory.
Addressing the gathering Lobo said, “I congratulate the organizers for the good initiative. They have organised the Football Tournament with the theme of ‘Goal for a Cause’. Dubois Friends have humanity and today they have proved by donating a prosthetic leg to Sulaiman. These youth have humanity and concern towards the society.”
Lobo further said, “I also congratulate the youth for taking part in the tournament. Youth should take part in such tournaments instead of wasting time for other things. Youth should be active and work for the development of the society. We want our youth to be in Mangaluru rather than going to other states and countries in search of jobs. If our youth should stay in Mangaluru, we need to invest in the IT industry or youth should start their own business”.
District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai said, “The Dubois Friends have donated a prosthetic leg to Sulaiman, during the inauguration which is commendable. They have organised the Football tournament for a good cause. Every year Dubois Friends are organising the Football tournament, and through the tournament, they are serving the society. This organization is a role model for all the other organisations because nowadays we see most of the organizers looking for profit while organizing programmes whereas the intention of the Dubois friends is helping the poor and the downtrodden in the society. Today they have given a new life to Sulaiman who lost his left leg 12 years ago. I congratulate the organizers and wish them success in their great service to the society”.
Parish Priest of Holy cross church Cordel Fr Victor Machado said, “I am very happy to be a part of the unique inauguration. Dubois Friends are doing good work. They are our friends too and they have considered me as their friend. We need our youth to stay back in Mangaluru. Our youth should do good work for the upliftment of the downtrodden in our society, forgetting caste creed and religion. God is one and we are all children of the same God. This tournament will be a great success. Play well and play for a cause”.
Krithin Kumar, Ramanand Poojary, Corporator Bhaskar Moily, Pusparaj Poojary. Organizing committee members Alwyn Pais, Rohan D’Silva and Anil Pais were also present.
The first match was played between St Aloysius Team and Bajjodi team and the second match was played between Mangalorean and Permannur.
