The state is severely affected by drought and water crisis. “During the last 3 years, Udupi was not affected by water crisis. Even to this day, we are providing sufficient water to the people. If there is no rain and the same situation continues, Udupi and the neighboring villages will face water crises.”
“Three days ago, I had decided to offer prayers at the Jamia Mosque, Anantheshwara, Chandramoulishwara, Krishna Temple and Mother of Sorrows Church to invoke the blessings of the Almighty for rain. Two days ago, we held a meeting and discussed the water shortage problems. The water level in the Baje reservoir was 2.17 meter on 12 May and it remains at the same level on 13 May as of the afternoon. Today, we have prayed in a temple, church and mosque under the leadership of Pejawar Swamiji and Bishop. God will surely accept our prayers and soon bless us with abundant rain,” he added.
Udupi City Municipal Council president Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, vice president Sandhya Kumar, former president Yuvaraj, Congress leader Sathish Ameen Padukere, Yathish Karkera, Prashant Poojary, Prakash Andrade and others were present.
