MLA Raghupathi Bhat takes Minister Jayamala to Task for not Following Protocol
Udupi: MLA Raghupathi Bhat has alleged that the Udupi City Municipal Council has disrespected him by not inviting him and the other BJP councillors for the inauguration of the Nagarothana phase 3 projects held on January 24.
The inauguration of the Nagarothana Phase 3 development projects was scheduled on January 24 in the presence of District minister in-charge Dr Jayamala. When the minister arrived at the venue for the inauguration, the MLA and the BJP councillors questioned her and expressed their displeasure for neglecting them without inviting them.
For any government projects/programmes before finalising the date the CMC should ask the elected members about their availability and fix the date and time. But the City Municipal Council did not bother to inform the Local MLA about the programme which is an insult. On January 23, the CMC informed the MLA and MLC about the District minister inaugurating the Nagarothana Phase 3 development projects.
Further MLA Raghupathi Bhat said, “Since I was informed about the programme, I have come here to attend the same giving due respect to the district minister and her position. But unfortunately, before the scheduled time the programme concluded in the presence of former minister Pramod Madhwaraj. This programme is like a Congress-sponsored programme and not the CMC which has hurt me a lot. This is an insult to the elected members, We have respect for the District Minister In-charge Dr Jayamala.”
Minister Jayamala responded to the MLA and said, “When Pramod Madhwaraj was the minister, he had brought nearly Rs 2000 crores from the government for the development work of the Udupi Constituency. Although he is not in power now, he has not forgotten his responsibilities. He had asked me to come to the inauguration of the Nagarothana Phase 3 projects and I today I am here on his request. Promod has special concern towards his constituency which we all should appreciate”, she said.
Speaking to the Media persons former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said, “When I was the MLA I had brought Rs 35 crores for the Nagarothana Phase 3, some projects have been completed and some others are in progress. Our party workers had put some banners regarding the project which I was not aware of. I had informed the CMC to invite the local MLAs and the MLC for the programme.”
