MLA Vedvyas Protests against Making Property Card Mandatory, Demands Better Facilities at UPOR Offices
Mangaluru: “There are over 1,70,000 properties registered in the Mangaluru Sub-registrar taluk and city. However, as of today, only 30-35 thousand property owners (about 20 percent) have been issued the Property Card. In Shivamogga district, around 80 percent of registered property owners have been issued Property Cards. With the intention of troubling the residents of Mangaluru, the state government is not issuing the Property Cards on time and the people of Mangaluru will surely condemn this act”, said BJP MLA Vedvyas Kamath at a protest meet held outside the Mini Vidhana Soudha here, on June 10.
Protesting the delay in issuing Property Cards by the state government, Vedvyas Kamath said, “Two months ago, when the Property Card was made mandatory, the UPOR office used to offer all the facilities to the people. Now, the UPOR office is in a terrible state. No one working there has the correct information. Equipment like computers, scanners and CAD are still not functioning properly. The people who go there are not even offered a place to sit.”
Kamath further said, “It is only reasonable to make the Property Card mandatory after 75 percent of the properties in the Mangaluru region have got their Property Cards. Before making the Property Card mandatory, I request the District Minister-in-charge to provide proper facilities to the people.”
