MLC By-Election: Individual Merit Matters, Not Party Affiliation – Raghupathi Bhat
Udupi: Former Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat emphasized the importance of voting based on individual merit rather than party affiliation in the upcoming Legislative Council by-election.
“In Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, party affiliation is crucial. However, in Legislative Council elections, one should consider the individual’s achievements,” Bhat stated.
Bhat contested independently in the previous Legislative Council elections due to being denied a BJP ticket, leading to his expulsion. He expressed willingness to rejoin the BJP if invited.
“I’ve already joined the BJP through their membership drive, but local organization approval is required,” Bhat clarified.
His statement holds significance, especially since his supporters will play a crucial role in the by-elections.
