MLC Ivan D’Souza Visits Boloor Crematorium, Listens to Locals Grievances
Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza visited the crematorium in Boloor and listened to the grievances of the locals on April 20.
On April 19, a 50-year-old woman from Bantwal had died of COVID-19 at the Wenlock Hospital. Her final rites were handled by the district administration along with the health department as per the Government COVID-19 guidelines. Her body was taken to the Boloor Crematorium as it is the only crematorium equipped with the electric cremation system.
When the ambulance with the body arrived at Boloor, locals opposed cremating it there for fear of the disease spreading in the area. On April 20, Ivan D’Souza visited the crematorium and listened to the grievances of the locals. The locals requested Ivan D’Souza to see that the COVID-19 were not cremated there. They also complained that no sterilization was carried out in the area after the cremation.
Ivan D’Souza assured the locals of taking up the issue to the notice of the concerned authorities.
After cremation the virus is unlikely to survive.
