M’lorean Raghuveer S represents India in Youth Exchange Programme – Indonesia
Mangalorean Raghuveer Souterpete, hailing from Valencia-Mangaluru represented India in International Youth Exchange Programme by United Nations Development Programme & Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports, Government of India at Jakarta, Indonesia, recently. This is really a proud moment for Karnataka and also for Mangaloreans
Mangaluru: Raghuveer Souterpete, hailing from Valencia-Mangaluru had represented India in the International Youth Exchange Programme organized by United Nations Development Programme at Jakarta, Indonesia. This is really a proud moment for Karnataka and also for Mangaloreans particularly. Five emerging Youths from different parts of India had been selected for the International Youth Exchange Programme by United Nations Development Programme & Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports, Government of India. It was one month program from 17-11-2017 to 18-12-2017 which was hosted by United Nations Development Programme, Indonesia and United Nations Development Programme, India and Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports, Government of India. The programme was to support cross leanings among youth Development and volunteerism, which is held at Jakarta, Indonesia.
According to Raghuveer, the Youth Exchange Program understands similar and different landscapes of youth and volunteerism in India and Indonesia, and learn the traditional form of volunteering present in Indonesia as well as the latest youth-led volunteering innovations; and also share good practices of youth volunteering and recommendations to improve the volunteer infrastructure in both countries. Raghuveer Souterpet has been an active Youth leader, social worker, and also a voice of the downtrodden people. Since nine years he has been actively conducting youth strengthening activities and it is his sheer hard work that has made him eligible for this International program.
Raghuveer is a competitive intelligent professional looking to enhance and improvise skills and abilities in youth development programs, and wants to improve the health status of communities through health education camps, environmental cleanliness, and increasing access to primary health and child care centers in remote villages. He says he wants to promote gender equality, and empower youth with entrepreneurship and skills developments and bringing them back to the mainstream. Looking at his background, Raghuveer has immense leadership qualities where he has brought in communities and worked tirelessly in achieving the goals of educating and uplifting the downtrodden sections of society and inspiring the youth to be leaders and making them aware of their responsibilities and duties.
After completing his SSLC at St Aloysius HS-Mangaluru, he did his P.U.C at Canara Pre-university College-Mangaluru. He then pursued his B.A at Canara College Mangalore University and then completed his Masters in Economics at Mangalore University. Raghuveer has been active in Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangatan (NYKS) as an NYC for two years; All College Student Association (ACSA) for five years; Worked for the upliftment of downtrodden communities SC/ST and other backward caste organizations for the past three years; Forum for social justice from two years; and Young India (NGO) presently working as a coordinator.
Raghuveer has conducted various Health camps in Pudu Village in Karnataka in September 2013, where people from four villages had attended this program where they were educated about basic civic sense and better health and hygiene practices thereby ensuring and preventing them from commonly occurring infectious and contagious diseases and improving their basic health status; also conducted one-day International Volunteers Day Program with panel discussion in December 2014, where Vice chancellors from different universities and of different nationalities delivered keynote speeches regarding volunteer program; also taken part in The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012 Awareness program conducted at many government schools in December 2014.
Youth Leadership Training Program conducted for three days for youths in Mangalore District October 2014. Programs were conducted on leadership with group discussions and instilling confidence and effectively warding off stage fright and field visits; National Law Day and National Constitution Day conducted in Nov 2015, where youth were addressed regarding constitutional rights and the opportunities available for them in constitution delivered by human rights commission chief of government of Karnataka; International day of persons with disabilities one Awareness Program conducted December 2015. The core ideology of the awareness program is to uplift and bring them to the mainstream society and ensuring that they are equally treated; Inter-University Youth Sports meet conducted on December 2015, by bringing the youth mainly belonging to the villages and providing them with the opportunities to participate and show their talent and providing a platform for the talented youth to shine not only in regional but national and international sports meet.
“Safety of Women” Workshop Conducted in September 2016 with Karnataka Police Department And Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, where deputy police commissioner had delivered a keynote speech regarding the constitutional rights and laws for their protection and booklets on information on women’s safety; “Role of youth in Nation Building” Workshop Conducted on occasion Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose birthday celebration-the program was conducted in multiple cities and was a success with good results, spreading awareness on the topic with field visits.
A Team Player, Success Oriented and Natural Leader and Hardworking, Raghuveer is a person of Intelligence and Self Confidence, and also has learning agility and effective personal communication skills. As an NCC cadet, Raghuveer was awarded the Best Cadet with a Gold medal national level and had also actively participated in many National camps and other social service activities. He was a recipient of Best team award in Inter college Leadership Training program; Best Youth Leader award for Youth Development programs from Karnataka All College Student Association. He had worked with Nehru Yuva Kendra Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports Government of India as Mangalore NYC (National Youth Cop).
