Like sometimes you forget to invite your close relative or friend for a happy occasion, similarly was the case of our ardent reader of Mangalorean.com, Praveenchandra who forgot to invite Team Mangalorean for his flag off ceremony, but was terribly sorry when Yours Truly contacted him over the phone for keeping me out of his invite list? Oh well, we all do mistakes! Praveenchandra Shetty and Kishan having already left Mangaluru on 16 August 2018, whose special vehicle – a Ford Ecosport – was flagged off by the Police Commissioner T R Suresh, among other police personnel, speaking to Team Mangalorean over the phone, Praveenchandra said, ” Hope Indian Ministry of Road and Highways {MoRH} take this vision of mine to convert it into an Advanced Road Safety Mission. Youth is our national wealth. Let us save them from untimely road traffic accident disasters for no fault of theirs. In a fast developing Country like India, ROAD SAFETY is more about Highway engineering and Vehicle Architecture than mere over speeding and Drunken Driving. That’s What I realized”.
“Based on my 35 years of experience in dealing with 12,383 Cases of Road Traffic Accidents and Analyzing each one of them Scientifically, I have arrived at above conclusion of mine about ROAD SAFETY IN A DEVELOPING COUNTRY. Let me document my findings through this Motoring on Outer Peripheral Highways and Connecting Motorways. Our journey will cover Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and back to Mangaluru. The expenditure for this trip which will be around Rs 5 lakh will be borne by us with no sponsors at all. And since the rear seat of our SUV has been converted into a sleeping space we will not look for any hotel stay, instead spend our 60 nights in our vehicle itself. We will drive 12 hours a day with each of us taking turns, driving for three hours consecutively”, added Praveenchandra.
Expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation message through our portal Praveenchandra Shetty said, ” Thanks to each and every member of Mangalore City Police Commissionarate and special thanks to Police Commissioner T R Suresh for a Grand Flagging of our Vehicle to commence All India Round Trip for a cause with National interest, a maiden attempt to document “Passive Causes of Road Traffic Accident On Indian Motorways”. An Innovative Research to document how “Unscientifically Designed Motorways” and “Vehicles Built on Poor Architectural Knowledge” remain as the hidden cause of accidents that are normally misunderstood for Over Speeding, Rash and Negligence Driving. Thanks also to Deputy Commissioner Of Police (Traffic & Crime) Uma Prashanth, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Hanumanthraya, Assistant Commissioner Police (Traffic) Manjunath Shetty for their encouragement in our endeavour. I hope, a research of this Kind which is not tried in any corner of the World as of now will bring down Road Traffic Accident Deaths that are caused due to Improper Highway Engineering and Faulty Vehicle Architecture to almost Zero by 2023. Hope MoRH take this vision of mine to convert it into an Advanced Road Safety Mission 2018-2023.
“Special thanks to Vikram Vicky of ‘Drive2 For Better Life’, and His Team of dedicated Youth for plotting my thoughts, crafting them beautifully and pasting them neatly on our vehicle with keen interest and enthusiasm. I was touched with their words and level of Patriotism when they refused to take money for their day-long work saying …”Sir, You do so much for Our Nation, please take our this day-long sweat and input cost of material as our contribution for building New India…. Hats off To You, Vikram Vicky and Your Team. Thanks also to Tilak Shetty of Cauvery Ford and His Team for dedicated Youth for a Free Pre-Long Distance Travel General Check-Up and Worthy Suggestions. Here too, most of the anticipated Preventive Maintenance Work is carried out free of labour cost as a token of gratitude for my service to Nation and their love for our Nation. Yes, Youth Want To Build New India ….Hope my book will do its best to build Road Traffic Death and Disability Free India By 2023 (2018-2023)” added Praveenchandra.
