Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah Creating Religious Divide to Incite Violence in the Country – MLC Ivan D’Souza
Mangaluru: “Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), is unconstitutional and is opposed by the people of the country. 6 persons have already died in the violence and the police themselves are found setting vehicles on fire and are involved in illegal activities. The police are also entering University campuses, dragging the students out and assaulting them. When we see all such incidents, I should say that Amit Shah and Modi with what they have done in Gujarat are using their experience in the country. The people who have voted them to power are inciting the voters to fight on the basis of religion. The Prime minister and Home minister are creating a religious divide and inciting violence in the country. Through the bill, they are trying to keep a particular community out”, said MLC Ivan D’Souza in a press meet held at his office, Lalbagh here on December 16.
Addressing the mediapersons Ivan said, “PM Narendra Modi is busy in election campaigns and is not at all bothered about the citizens of this country. The IIT and other universities are fighting against the CAB but the prime minister is not interested to ask the opinion of the people. Modi and Shah are thinking that they can do anything and people should listen to whatever they say. Both of them are hell-bent in misusing their power to implement the CAB.”
Ivan further said, “Many countries such as the UK, Australia, etc are not allowing their citizens to visit India, they have issued an advisory to their citizens saying that it is not safe to visit India. The president of Japan has also cancelled his visit to Guwhati because of the deteriorating of the law and order situation in India. PM Modi is not allowing the delegates from other countries to come to India. The GDP of our country has crashed, imports and exports have fallen and the economy is in danger. The WHO has officially announced that implementing the CAB is not right. Based on the religion the PM and HM are creating violence. If we need to save our country we should all join hands. I hope the Supreme Court will intervene and declare the Bill null and void. Justice Santhosh Hegde has also said that CAB is unconstitutional as it is targetting one particular community.”
Ivan also said, “Intellectuals and social activists have also raised their voice against the CAB, people throughout the state will protest. Let the government implement the bill without targetting any particular community.”
