Modi Government misusing IT dept for cheap politics; Amrith Shenoy
Udupi: The Udupi district Youth Congress held a protest at the Clock Tower on Thursday, August 3 against the Income tax raids on the State Power Minister D K Shivakumar.
The protesters shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Amith Shah for the Union government targeting only the Congress politicians.
Addressing the protesters Amrith Shenoy Udupi Constituency campaigning committee president said that, the Income tax department conducted a raid at a resort where the Congress MLAs from Gujarat are staying, it is clear that the raids were politically motivated. In the Congress party in Karnataka DK Shivakumar always being a trouble shooter, the BJP had planned to hit him by using the IT department. D K Shivakumar is the second richest person in the country and is paying the highest income tax for all his businesses. There are no any hidden Assets with D K Shivakumar.
The Income tax department has become a puppet in the hands of Modi and Shah. IT raids are aimed at instilling fear among the Gujarath Congress MLAs. The Modi Government has targeted Shivakumar as he was taking care of the Gujarat MLAs. The BJP is targeting only the Congress leaders by conducting IT raids but BJP chief Amit Shah’s assets have grown three times in five years. From Raghupathi Bhat to Narendra Modi every BJP leaders assets have grown disproportionately but not a single leader’s house was raided by the IT department and it shows BJP’s rivalry politics. If they have real courage, they should raid Amith Shah’s house, he added.
From last four years, The Siddaramaiah led Congress government has given good administration in the state. The chief minister has concern for the poor and the downtrodden. It is a true Congress government in Karnataka. There is not even a single negative word to speak about his administration. The BJP cannot digest the development works done by the Karnataka Congress government. So the Modi Government is playing cheap politics against D K Shivakumar and others Congress leaders in the country. For Just one Rajya Sabha seat Modi and Shah have played this type of cheap politics. These IT raids show their utter desperation and frustration. The Central government is using the IT department as a weapon of political vendetta is not only a blatant misuse of power but also goes against the principles and cooperative federalism. The Congress will care for this type of cheap politics and the people will give the answer for all this, he said.
Udyavar Nagesh Kumar said that the raids were politically motivated. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre was misusing agencies such as IT Department and Central Bureau of Investigation for political vendetta. The raids were conducted to intimidate the Congress MLAs from Gujarat who are staying in a resort near Bengaluru with Shivakumar. He alleged that the IT raid stands as an example for the indulgence of BJP in a blatant misuse of power.
MP Moideenabba said that, though many top leaders of BJP in Karnataka like B S Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje, K. S. Eshwarappa, R Ashok were facing allegations of owning assets disproportionate to their known source of income, the IT sleuths have not conducted any search operations on their premises.
