Modi Has Created an Undeclared Emergency Situation – SDPI

Mangaluru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) staged a protest against the Union government for banning the sale of cattle for slaughter, (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017), in front of the DC office here on May 31.

Addressing the protesters the State President of SDPI Abdul Hannan said, “BJP government led by Modi came to power by giving various assurances to the people. Modi said that if he comes to power he will bring back the black money from foreign banks. But so far he has not credited even 15 paise to anyone’s account. The BJP is trying to control the fundamental rights and has created an undeclared emergency situation which is dangerous for secularism and democracy. We have started our agitation in the entire country. If the ban will not be lifted we will intensify our protest. BJP has got only 30% votes, to please the voters Modi is imposing a ban on beef. President of India should intervene to stop this ban.”

He also said, “The Dalits and minorities should get down to the streets to protest against the ban. To agitate is our democratic right. Prime Minister should think about creating employment, development of roads, electricity and only think of the development of the country. In three years Modi has given only assurances. He has demonetized the notes and now he is banning Beef, he has imposed an undeclared emergency. We warn the PM to stop such notifications. SDPI will go to the Supreme Court to fight for our rights”.

SDPI National General Secretary Ismail Ilyas Thumbay speaking on the occasion said, “In the Centre before the BJP came to power Modi had given assurances of crediting Rs 15 lakh to every citizen’s account, to build Ram Mandir and to ban beef. BJP is again fooling the people to come to power in 2018. Six months ago Modi demonetized Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes. Instead of getting money in our account, people stood in the queue to withdraw their hard earn money. Now the Modi government has put a ban on Beef by implementing the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017 act. According to it, “cattle” means a bovine animal such as a bull, bullock, cow, buffalo, steer, heifer, calf, and camel.”

Ilyas further said, “The Modi government is planning Aadhar card for cows. It is difficult for us to apply for the Aadhar card. The BJP government is protecting the cows by killing the people. In our country, there are 18 crore Buffaloes. If the Buffaloes become old what will the farmer do with them? Should he send the Buffaloes to PM Modi’s office? or will the government compensate the farmer to take care of the Buffaloe”? Beef is not only consumed by Muslims and Christians but more than 100 crore people consume beef. In olden days too, people used to consume beef. People of this country have the right to consume whatever they want. Who is Modi or BJP to decide? We need to join hands to make the government withdraw the ban on beef.”

Addressing the protesters SDPI State Secretary Alfonso Franko said, “When I was teaching the students I was teaching them that the Government is of the people, by the people and for the people, but now under Modi’s rule, the government has become of the cows, by the cows and for the cows. Our prime minister Modiji has not made make in India, but has made Fake in India. He also said Acche din anewale hai but whoever eats beef will go to jail for 7 years. I believe in Jesus Christ, I am a Christian and I visited Telangana to study the ground reality of the Church attack. Seven years ago when Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, our churches were attacked in Mangaluru and our nuns were assaulted by the police. During the church attack Yeddyurappa went to meet Arch Bishop Bernard Moras and said sorry but Arch Bishop said, “Get Out”, Yeddyurappa return back.”

Alfonso further said, “Nowadays on WhatsApp a message, “If anyone consumes beef will get cancer” has gone viral. But experts say that beef is good for health. When the same beef is exported there is no cancer. The cow is God in our country but the same cow has been slaughtered into pieces and exported. Christians consume pork, I think in the coming days pork will also be banned. I respect Hindus because they are very good, but Hindutva is an RSS agenda to divide the country, there is a difference between Hindutva and Hindus. We are not against Hindus but we are against Hindutva. Hindus are our brothers and sisters and we are all one.”
