Modi’s cashless, Mann-ki-Baat one day will lead to India-less – Mahila Congress

Udupi: Demons used to wage war in the night, likewise PM Narendra Modi is following the same path destroying the lives of citizens by hiking the price of all basic commodities, said the Women Congress Vice-President Jyothi Hebbar during a protest held against the Union government in-front of Clock Tower here, on March 2.

Addressing the protesters Jyothi said, “The people who question 60 years of Congress ruling, have no credibility because they have failed in accountability of 50 days since demonetization. The Acche Din have vanished in Modi’s speeches, while Man-Ki-Baat takes a different turn like the daily soaps. Man-Ki-Baat is a new form of daily soap which has to be renamed to Monkey-Ki-Baat. In an attempt to promote cashless society, we fear that Narendra Modi can even go ahead in turning our nation India-less. The government led by Narendra Modi is a curse to the women in the country. The woman who asked Narendra Modi for a scarf got it without any delay while he has failed to even give a piece of cloth to his own wife”.

She also stressed, “Modi is fooling the country with one or another issue, the speeches on cow protection don’t suit him because the state of Gujrat is leading in beef export in the country. The surgical strikes on women through the hike in LPG prices will lead to his downfall in the elections, with women voters waiting to teach him a very good lesson”.

Women Congress President Veronica Cornelio said, “The hike in LPG prices by 85 rupees is a deliberate attempt to harass women. The Acche Din are turning costly with the hike in LPG prices which reflects the concern of the Prime Minister towards women. The UPA government was effective in checking the price rise, it was rupees 420 for LPG during UPA rule but today it has been raised to rupees 735. In 6 months the government has raised rupees 300 on the LPG. The BJP was known in holding severe protests for a hike of Rupees 5 during the UPA rule but now is silent. The MP of Udupi-Chikkamangluru LS Constituency is a woman but her silence on the same reflects her concern”.

Veronica also said, “BJP rose to power criticizing the Aadhar card but now it has made Aadhar card mandatory for every scheme. The payment of gas subsidy is not effectively managed. The promise of bringing back the black money has turned a burden on the citizens where they are charged for banking transactions. The government which promises safe cooking is pushing women to inhale smoke”, she added.

State Minority development corporation chairman M A Gafoor, Women leaders Meenakshi Madhava, Sandhya Thilakraj, Celina Karkada, Sarasu D Bangera, Dr Sunitha Shetty, Roshni Olivera, Chandrika Kelkar, Chandrika Shetty, Mary D’Souza, other senior leaders Harish Kini, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Amrith Shenoy, Dinesh Putran, Nagesh Udyavar, Ramesh Kanchan, Neeraj Patil and others were present.
