Modi’s Demonetization helped to convert Black money to White – Ramanath Rai

Mangaluru: “Because of the wrong decision of prime minister Modi, to demonetize the currency notes the people of the country are facing problems. After 50 days of demonetization, there is no improvement in the system. Modi is good in delivering speeches, but through his speeches, we will not get the ration. The Modi government before coming to power assured to bring back the black money from Foreign banks and credit Rs 15 lakh into the account of every citizen. But instead of bringing back the black money, Modi helped the black money holders to convert their black money to white “, said the district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai in a press meet held at the congress office here on January 2, 2017.

Rai further said, “The Modi government instead of curbing the black money has helped the black money holders to convert their black money to white. Before demonetization of the currency, Modi should have discussed it with experts. Modi should understand that he can fool people once or twice but he cannot fool the people all the time. Dakshina Kannada district is known as intellectuals city and we have all the facilities but what about the rural areas. We should thank Indira Gandhi for the nationalization of the banks. She made the banks to reach to the people. But Modi has made the people stand in long queue to withdraw their hard earned money. In any country, people don’t stand in the queue to withdraw their hard earned money but Modi has made it in our country”.

Rai also said, “The central government should give us the report of how many people have died standing in the queue after demonetization. The names of those who have deposited money six months before the demonetization should be revealed. The names of those who have deposited more than Rs 25 lakh in the banks before the demonetization should be revealed. The government should form a committee to identify people who have lost their jobs from November 8, after demonetization and compensate them till March 31, 2017. BPL card holders should be given a compensation of Rs 20,000”.

Rai further said, “Whoever speaks against demonetization, the opposition calls them as traitors. The Modi government has come to power because of false promises. PM Modi cannot fool the people for long. Modi had asked for 50 days to bring changes in the country. If any irregularities are found in his actions, he said that he is ready for any punishment. Now Modi has failed to keep his promise, he should now face the consequences”.

Mayor Harinath, Sashidhar Hegde, Mithun Rai, Mamatha Gatti, Kodijal Ibrahim and others were also present.
