Modi’s Dream not for Common Man but for Rich and Industrialists – Amrith Shenoy
Udupi: Union government has failed in protecting the interests of the common man and farmers. Modi’s dream is not for the common man but for the rich and industrialists said the Congress leader Amrith Shenoy. He was speaking at a protest held on September 28 by the Hiriyadka by Hiriyadka Youth Congress against the Union government.
Before the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had promised that it would take immediate steps to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks, maintain transparency in the administration and generate 3 crore employment in a year. The government has also failed to control the increasing prices of essential commodities, he alleged.
Instead of taking steps to framing the policies in favour of the common man, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy touring foreign countries. His few close associates dominate the Cabinet while the remaining Ministers are neglected, he added.
District women’s Congress vice president Joythi Hebbar addressing the protesters said that PM Modi had promised the nation that he will bring back the black money in 100 days soon after his government was formed, but nothing like that happened. BJP has lost morality and has no respect for women. After the demonetisation, the employment rate has drastically decreased and labourers are finding it hard to earn their livelihood, she claimed. She termed the Centre’s recent claim on GDP as fake.
BJP, which is playing with the sentiments of people in the name of religion, has been working on propaganda to mesmerize the public to gain votes. MP Shobha Karandlaje is least worried about the district and she rarely visits the district. There are many potholes on NH 169A between Parkala and Malpe. The condition of the highway at the Tiger Circle in Manipal is very bad. People are cursing the state government for the poor condition of the highway. But MP Shobha Karandlaje is busy collecting rice and grains. Instead of begging rice and grains she should have begged for funds the repair of the road, the public of her constituency would surely have helped in a big way. National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has been in power for the last 3 years but it is not concerned about the sufferings of the common man. Since the people had high expectations of the BJP government at the centre, they should concentrate on the welfare of the common man and fulfill their promises, she said.
Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to keep the promises made during the Lok Sabha elections. Narendra Modi had assured before the Lok Sabha polls that he will bring ‘Acche Din’ in the country. It is unfortunate that even after completing three years as Prime Minister, Modi has failed to fulfill the pre-poll promises. The BJP has fooled the people to get votes. While the Congress has always worked for uniting the society, the BJP’s aim has been to divide the society into religious lines. The Modi government had taken a U-turn on Aadhar, black money, Goods and Services Act. The tall promises of “Achhe din” has turned into a nightmare for the people of the country, he said.
The Siddaramaiah led Congress government has fulfilled most of the promises made in the election manifesto. The government is all set to fulfill the remaining assurances within the next two years and would come before the people, seeking a fresh mandate in the 2018 elections. Out of the 165 assurances in the manifesto, the government has been full filed 155. The BJP is dreaming of coming to power in the state. The Congress workers should not allow this to happen, he said.
Former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary and Congress leader Nagesh Kumar Udyavar also spoke on the occasion.
Congress leaders Chandrika Shetty, Hebri Udaykumar Shetty, Vishwas Ameen, Naveenchandra Shetty, Abdul Aziz, Habib Ali, Melwin D’Souza, Naveenchandra Shetty and others were present.
