Modi’s Mission ‘Backstabbing Karnataka. Snatching its Rightful Due’ – Randeep Singh

Mangaluru: “In 2014, PM Modi came to Mangaluru and promised the moon, four years down the line he came to Mangaluru again on May 5, he had zero to deliver on the promises that he made to Karnataka including this most important region of Karnataka. He did not speak about a single promise that he had made to Mangaloreans as well as Kannadigas in the 2014 elections. That reflects the persona and the character of our honourable prime minister. The Manifesto released by B S Yeddyurappa recently promising laptops to students and at the same time the Prime minister says that the election manifesto is meaningless which one should not take seriously as he considers the election promises as use and throw Jumla box for which he has now become famous. There was a slogan that the BJP people chanted in the 2014 elections, “Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi”, but in the 2019 elections it will be “Bye Bye Modi” considering the manner and fashion he is acting”, said the In-charge Communications AICC Randeep Singh Surjewala in a press meet held at the DCC Office Mallikatta here on May 6.

Briefing on the facts Rajendra Singh said, “The Congress-ruled Karnataka has witnessed a saga of deliberate discrimination in the hands of BJP. The ‘Co-operative Federalism’ of Modi has become ‘Co-ercive Federalism’, Backstabbing Karnataka is the only mission of the BJP. In the most blatant and brazen example of ‘Step Motherly Treatment’ and ‘Snatching the Rightful Due’ to Karnataka, has become BJP’s DNA in last four years of Modi Government. In the most blatant and brazen example of ‘Step Motherly Treatment’ and ‘Snatching the Rightful Due’ to Karnataka, the Narendra Modi Government, in the past 4 years has deliberately neglected Karnataka and its people’s share of the Central Schemes and Projects. First, they looted and plundered the state’s precious resources through the Rs 35000 Cr ‘Iron-Ore-Mining Scam’. After being voted out in 2013, they are attempting to seize the right of Kannadigas by denying Rs 22,497 Crores less in the 15th Finance Commission. Not to be outdone, ‘The Yeddy-Reddy Gang’ of `Karnataka’s Most Wanted’ is making a surreptitious to usurp power in these elections.”

Randeep further said, “The inherently partisan practice of the Modi Government in denying Karnataka its share is proved by the following:-

Infrastructure – Failing India & Deliberately Delaying Karnataka’s Infra Projects

New project announcements by Indian companies touched a 13-year low of Rs 77,000 Crore up till Dec 2017 (Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy).

Is it not correct that 46 of these Central Govt projects in Karnataka with original cost of Rs 78,727 Cr are suffering incessant delays and cost overruns? The cost of these projects has increased to its 96,951 Cr. Is it not true that out of these 46 projects, 22 projects have shown a cost increase of 112% and are languishing for the past 4 years? Is the Modi Govt deliberately delaying the Central Govt Infrastructure projects in Karnataka? Is the step-motherly treatment to Karnataka meted out of partisan political interests?

Failing Karnataka’s Farmers:

Is it not a fact that when the small and marginal farmers of Karnataka were reeling under drought, then their cry for help to the Modi Govt fell on deaf ears?

During the 2016-17 Rabi Season, 160 Taltikas of 30 districts in Karnataka faced extreme drought conditions. The Congress Govt in Karnataka asked Modi Govt for a drought relief of Rs 3310.83 Cr. but BJP rejected this plea for assistance and sanctioned only Rs 795.5 Cr.

The utter disdain of Modi Govt for the farmers of Karnataka can be gauged by the actual amount which they have provided for various schemes

Scheme for Agriculture – Sanctioned by Central Govt (In Rs) – Actual Amount Provided to Karnataka (In Rs)
Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana Rs 264.72 Cr Rs 178.99 Cr.
National Food Security Mission Rs 146.07 Cr Rs 96.50 Cr

Will Shri Modi deny the fact that the funds which Karnataka used to avail for Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikaran Abhiyan (RGPSA) Scheme have now been reduced from 46.1 Cr to just 6 Cr by RIP Government?

No Central aid for Urban Development:

Congress-led UPA Government had spent more than 1 Lakh Crore of funds under JNNURM on the Urban Infrastructure of India’s cities. Is it not correct that the Congress Govt spent Rs 6,570 Cr in Karnataka for Urban Infrastructure; the BJP could only provide a meagre amount of Rs 598 Cr to Karnataka for improving its Urban Infrastructure (under AMRUT) in the past 3 years?

Congress spent 1100% more funds to Karnataka than the BJP, even though at that time BJP was ruling Karnataka.

Neglecting Education & Healthcare of Kannadigas:

Why did the Moth Government deliberately neglect the Healthcare Sector of Karnataka? Even as the Modi Govt went on a spree to announce new AIIMS like Institutions in the years 2014-15 (4 ARMS were proposed), 2015-16 (6 AIIMS proposed) & 2017-18 (2 more AIIMS proposed). It failed to sanction a single ARMS for Karnataka. Importantly; since 2015, Karnataka had continuously pleaded for a sanction of AIIMS and had sent proposals to establish it in (1)Horahalli in Ramnagar District near Bangalore; (2) Itagatti in Dharwad District; and (3) District Hospital Campus Bijapur.

Is it not a fact that Modi Govt deliberately neglected Karnataka viz-a-viz the National Health Mission? Congress-UPA had provided Rs 20,121.78 Cr to Karnataka in 2013-14, while the Modi Govt reduced this amount by Rs 2808.69 Cr in 2015-16 and by Rs 1945.88 in 2016-17. Why?

Is it not a fact that due to discriminatory policies of the Modi Government, lakhs of patients suffering from various diseases in Karnataka are devoid of essential medicines? Karnataka Govt had requested to sanction 200 Pradhan Mantri Jan Aashudhi Centres in the state, but Modi Govt only sanctioned 17 such Centres.

Betraying the Dalits and Adivasis of Karnataka:

Why did you abolish the SC Sub Plan, ST Sub Plan and Backwards Regions Grant Funds for the districts of Karnataka and rest of the country?
Is it not correct that Modi Government has not sanctioned a single paisa in the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 for Pre Matric Scholarship of the Scheduled Tribes in Karnataka and only sanctioned a pittance of Rs 12.64 Cr in 2017-18?

Erasing Karnataka from `Swadesh Darshan Yojana’ of Tourism Ministry:

Is it not correct that Modi Govt’s Tourism Ministry did not include a single tourism circuit from Karnataka in the `Swadesh Darshan Yojana’, even though Karnataka sent multiple representations?

Stalling Railway Projects for Karnataka:

Modi Government has utterly neglected the ongoing Railway projects in Karnataka.

There are 17 New Line Projects for Railways in Karnataka, Some of the glaring examples are:

1) Gadag -Yalvigi (58 km): The cost of the project is Its 640 Cr, but in the past 4 years, only Rs 1 Cr has been provided by the Modi Govt and no work has begun.
2) Hubli -Ankola (167 km): The Cost of this project is Rs 2315 Cr, But Modi Govt only sanctioned Rs 1 Cr in 2014-15, Rs 12 Cr in 2015-16 & Rs18 Cr in 2017-18.
3) Chikballapur -Gowribidanur (44 km): The Cost of this project is Rs 368 Cr, But Modi Govt only sanctioned Rs 0.1 Cr in 2014-15, Rs 0.0001 Cr in 2015-16 & Rs 0.11 Cr in 2017-18.
4) Chikballapur -Puttaparty – Shri Satya Sai Nilayam (103 km): The Cost of this project is Rs 692 Cr, But Modi Govt only sanctioned Rs 0.6 Cr in 2014-15, Rs 0.0001 Cr in 2015-16 & Rs 0.11 Cr in 2017-18.
5) Srinivasapura-Madanapali (75 km): The Cost of this project is Rs 692 Cr, But Modi Govt only sanctioned Rs 0.6 Cr in 2014-15, Rs 0.0001 Cr in 2015-16 & Rs 0.11 Cr in 2017-I8.

While concluding Randeep said, “Modi is making outrageous and intemperate statements against the Congress party in Karnataka. Instead of blaming his opponents, he should first look at the ‘Mirror of Truth’ to, ascertain the reality of his Government’s deliberate neglect to Karnataka and its people. Unable to digest the simple fact, that the Congress party developed a progressive Karnataka, and placed it on the trajectory of growth and welfare, despite the huge impediments and roadblocks which Modi Government placed in its path, Modi is only spewing venomous remarks in his rallies.

People of Karnataka shall never forget and forgive Shri Modi for this utter betrayal”.

Jaiveer Shergill, National Media Panelist, AICC, Manjunath Bhandary, Suresh Shetty and others were also present.
