Monthi Festh Celebration at St Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu
Mangaluru : The joyous celebration of the nativity of Mother Mary began with the blessing of the new corn and offering of flowers by children at 7.30 am. This was followed by the Eucharistic celebration.
Fr Shaun Rodrigues, Assistant Parish Priest presided over the Eucharist and Fr Benjamin Pinto, the Parish Priest preached on the importance of the Day. He focused on Mother Mary’s “Yes” to the divine plan, the joy of being a part of the family, gratitude towards God and farmers for the new corn and respecting girl child.
Towards the end of the mass, as a parish family everyone drank “novem” and gurkars distributed sheaves of blessed new paddy to the heads of the family. Women association conducted the liturgy. Children sang with their melodious voice which added beauty to the day’s celebration. Finally sugarcane was distributed to all by ICYM members.
