Moodbidri: The Vidyagiri campus of Alva’s educational institutions was in a pall of gloom as the news of the death of a well-read and brilliant lecturer was flashed. The students and colleagues found it hard to come to terms with having lost such a bright personality from their midst.
Aditya G Bhat (31), son senior journalist G U Bhat from Uttar Kannada, who served as a lecturer here, had gone to his hometown. On Sunday, he had attended a programme organized by the Kumta unit of Nudisiri and was resting at home in Honnavar.
Around 11 am, he suffered a heart attack and died soon thereafter. He is survived by parents, wife and a year-old son.
Bhat had high qualifications. Besides an MA in Political Science and MPhil, he had also secured an MA in English and served as a lecturer in Political Science here. He was a powerful orator and had taken part in the panel discussions on TV as a political analyst. He wrote for columns in different journals.
He has authored a few books and a few others are awaiting publication.
