Moodbidri: Marpadi Vasu Moily (78), brother of former state chief minister M Veerappa Moily, passed away at his residence ‘Mithila’ in Marpadi on Saturday, following a brief illness.
He was a prominent leader of the Devadiga community and served as the president of the local chapter of the Devadiga Sudharaka Sangha for many years.
He was an entrepreneur and a progressive farmer. Although his brother had held high posts for many years, Vasu Moily had stayed away from the spheres of influence and led a simple life.
On hearing the news of his demise, Veerappa Moily made an airdash from Delhi and took part in the final rites back home. Vasu Moily is survived by two sons and four daughters.
Cutting across political and community lines, hundreds of people visited the house to pay their last respects as also to be present at the final rites.
