Moodbidri origin Prasad Shetty enters India Book of Records for His Cycling Expeditions
Nellikaru-Moodbidri origin Prasad Vijay Shetty, known as “Traveler Pachu Shetty” enters India Book of Records for His Cycling Expedition in two achievements -For being the FIRST one to pedal from Kashmir to Kanyakumari two times- and also for finishing the cycling expedition in a record time of 19 days.
Mangaluru: Briefing about his cycling journey to the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Prasad Vijay Shetty said, “My first cycling expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, which lasted for 61 days, commenced from January 11, 2017 to March 12, 2017. With the motto of ‘Clean India-Green India’ and also to bring awareness on Swachh Bharath, I ventured on a solo cycle expedition and completed it successfully”.
“From 24 March 2018 to 11 April 2018, I went on my second solo cycling expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, a distance of nearly 4000 kms, which I finished in 19 days, and it was an Indian Record, which landed my name into India Book of Records. My second expedition was based on my two intentions namely “Pedal for Defence People” and ‘To include Tulu in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution’. I was very keen on making Tulu language known throughout the nation, and the Tulunadu flag was displayed on my bicycle during the entire expedition” added Prasad.
Prasad further said, “I am totally overwhelmed that I was able to create two new cycling expedition records. I achieved the FIRST record for completing my expedition in record time of 19 days, beating the old record of 23 days created by Santhosh Holi of Maharashtra. While the SECOND record was for me being the first person to complete the cycling expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari two times. But the sad part is that huge expenses incur in all these expeditions.
I want to create more records, but lack of funds is the drawback. Being also a rock-climber and also a mountaineer, I have a dream to climb Mount Everest, and create a record. Since this expedition cots nearly Rs 40 lakhs, I am making a humble request to people to support me financially in my efforts to fulfill my dream in climbing Mt Everest”. Prasad Shetty’s friends namely Prakash Shetty, VS Ullala and Dinesh Rai joined him on the dais during the press meet.
