Moral Policing Hurting City’s Growth Will Be Dealt With Seriously’- MLC B M Farooq

  • Moral Policing Hurting City’s Growth Will Be Dealt With Seriously’- said MLC and State General Secretary of JD {S} Party B M Farooq during His Maiden press meet after being appointed as General Secretary of JD {S} by Cm Kumaraswamy at Circuit House-Mangaluru on Thursday 23 August 2018.

Mangaluru: MLC B M Farooq is Mangaluru-based entrepreneur; the Richest MLC in JD{S} party; the only person in Karnataka State to own the luxury vehicle 2018 Range Rover LWB Autobiography, which costs Rs 3.60 crore; the Managing Director of Fiza Group; the brother of former INC MLA from Mangalore North constituency Mohiudeen Bava, is currently the State General Secretary of JD {S}. On 4 June 2018, Farooq was elected unopposed to the Karnataka Legislative Council. After holding this new post, MLC B M Farooq held his maiden Press meet at the Circuit House, Mangaluru on Thursday, 23 August 2018.

For Muslim folks, Wednesday 22 August was Eid-ul-Adha also popularly known as Bakrid is a significant festival celebrated by Muslims. And MLC B M Farooq also celebrated the Feast in fervour, and while helping his wife in the kitchen to chop a few vegetables, he accidentally chopped off a partial flesh of his right thumb with a sharp knife which he had recently bought in Hongkong. Bleeding terribly since the thumb vein was cut, he was treated at the hospital, with a bandage- and in spite of having severe pain, he kept his schedule in having the press meet as promised. Now we can say he is not only a dedicated and committed MLC, but also a dedicated and committed Husband to his wife in the Kitchen World?

Addressing the media person, MLC B M Farooq said, “I happy and overwhelmed to be with you all after assuming the post of State General Secretary of JD {S} Party, and I am indebted to CM Kumaraswamy for having full trust and confidence in me. As an MLC and State General Secretary I want to create a friendly bond between party members and people, so that we can have a better development in the State, I have already submitted in details about the development requirements for DK to the CM Kumaraswamy, and he has agreed to do the needful for the development of DK. Even though I am not a professional politician, but I will do my best to serve the people of my district in their needs and also for the growth of DK/Mangaluru”.

“We should know that Dakshina Kannada is bound to be a Commercial Hub, having all the eligibilities to become one. Therefore I have discussed it with the CM, and requested him to have a look around our district, and prepare a blueprint of development with the help of the concerned officials. Even though we call our Airports as an International airport, but still it does not have the International airport status. We need an additional 36 acres of space to extend the runway of the airport, and once that is done our Airport can get the status of the international airport. I had informed about this to the CM, and he has shown interest in it since the government is responsible for any land acquisition”, added MLC Farooq.

He further said, “Even though Mangaluru and DK are tourist destinations, but the constant moral policing by few saffron activists/miscreants have brought a bad name to our district. Because of such incidents happening here, many IT companies are reluctant to start their firms in DK, and also that IT professionals are not willing to work in DK because of Moral Policing. If the citizens and politicians join hands together to stop moral policing, we can look forward to an IT Hub in DK next to Bengaluru. Moral Policing will be seriously dealt with and action will be taken against those who involve in it, and CM has offered full support in eradicating such practices in DK”.

“We all know that every monsoon season we experience landslides in our Western Ghat section, which has put commuters in hardship. We can’t only depend on the Ghat roads, we need to build a tunnel in order to connect Mangaluru with Bengaluru since hundreds of commuters and vehicles travel between these two cities daily. I have discussed this with the CM and he has promised to look over it. No doubt we are facing a shortage of electricity every now and then, and to solve that problem our government has decided to upgrade 66 KV substations to 110 KV substations at the earliest,” added Farooq.

While concluding he said, “I will be opening my General Secretary Office in the DC’s complex in the first week of September 2018, where I have invited H D Devegowda and minister H Vishwanath to inaugurate and be the chief guests. On the same day, a meeting of JD{S} party workers will be held. To handle my duties very efficiently and smoothly, I request every one of you to work hand in hand with me, so we can make a difference in DK, like never before. I have confidence that I will do my best, even though I am not a professional politician, being a long time entrepreneur. Seeking your full support, I remain thanking you all in anticipation”.

M B Sadashiv- State JD(S) Vice President; JD {S} District president Mohammad Kunhi, JD- Mangaluru Block Secretary Vasanth Poojary, JD-S State secretary Ismail, and JD-S District Spokesperson Sushil Noronha, among others were present during the press meet.
