‘More efforts needed to curb Drug Menace’ – Kundapur Judge Prakash Khanderi

Kundapur: The Kundapur Sessions and additional Judge Prakash Khanderi said that awareness should be created among the youth about the impact of drug abuse in order to end the demand for drugs substances completely.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Walkathon against Drug Abuse by the Kundpaur Police, and Kundapur Taluk Journalist’s Association in Kundpaur on Tuesday, September 11.

It is necessary to raise awareness of drug abuse, particularly among the urban youth, among the economically-backward sections of the society. He appealed to the students not to fall prey to drug addiction.

Drug trafficking has grown to become a major business promoted by anti-social elements forcing the government to enact a special and a strong Act not only to control drug trafficking and drug abuse but also to safeguard the victims. The police personnel should work towards strengthening their information network in order to effectively bust these rackets. A drug addict is not only a menace to his or her family but also to the entire society, he said.

Kundapur DySP Dinesh Kumar, Kundapur Senior Civil Judge Kumaraswamy, JMF Judge Chandrashekar Banakar, Public Procector Sumangala Naik, Udupi district working Journalist’s Associaiton president Ganesh Prasad Pandlu, Kundapur Taluk Presdient Shashidhar Hemmadi, PSI Harish Naik and others were present.
