Mortal Remains of Saudi Industrial Disaster Victims Brought Home

Mangaluru: Twelve employees of a factory in Al Jubail in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had lost their lives in an industrial disaster on April 16. Out of them, five were from Dakshina Kannada.

The mortal remains of the two of them had already arrived last week. The remaining two were received at the international airport on Tuesday.

Vincent Monteiro, Bhaskar Poojary and Balakrishna

The bodies of Vincent Monteiro (37), son of the late Lawrence Monteiro of Merlapadavu, and of Balakrishna Poojary (43) of Moodushedde, Vamanjoor arrived by the same flight in the evening, while that of Bhaskar Poojary had arrived earlier.

Monteiro’s body was accompanied by his neighbour William Pereira. Jerome, the elder brother of the deceased, said that the final rites would be held on Wednesday.

Balakrishna’s body was taken to Vamanjoor for public homage and then later taken to Shaktinagar crematorium for the final rites. Bhaskar’s funeral was held around noon.
