Mother and Two Daughters Drown in Pond in Kota

Kundapur: In a tragic incident a mother and her two daughters drowned in a water filled pond in Belur, under Kota Police Station limits here on Tuesday, May 30.
The deceased have been identified as Bharathi Shetty (48), her daughters Prithvi (21) and Prajna Shetty (17) residents of Belur, Kota Village.
According to sources, Bharathi Shetty along with her daughters went to bring bags filled with paddy seeds which were soaked in the water in the pond since 2 days. Due to the rains, the pond was filled with water and Bharathi being unaware of the depth slipped and fell into the pond.  Her daughter Prithvi jumped into the pond to rescue her but she too drowned.  When Prajna saw both Mother and her sister drowning she too jumped into the pond to rescue them but in vain.
The locals alerted the Kota police and the Fire Department. The fire department arrived at the spot and retrieved the bodies which were later sent to the government hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered in Kota Police Station.
