Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture ’17 at St Ann’s College of Education
Mangaluru: St Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organises Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture 2017.
Mangaluru: Dr Anish K.R. Head of the Department, (Social Work), Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kerala and Chief Guest delivered the lecture on the topic “The Joy of Learning”. The talk signified the importance of building a better mental health in learners and the role of the teacher in fostering a healthy, safe and supportive learning environment. The speaker spoke on the paradigms between well-being and accomplishment and the outcomes of joyful.
The speaker ended his talk by concluding “Integrate well-being into your lesson plans. Bring out the purpose in children that makes a difference”. The ‘Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture’ is delivered every year during the annual body meeting of the College Alumnae Association, since 1995 in memory of the foundress of the college, Mother Josephine A.C., the fourth Superior General of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, India. The college holds the pride of being the first private college for teacher education and an autonomous college in the State of Karnataka has been preparing teachers for modern society with academic and professional competence and leadership capabilities.
Identifying the strengths and best practices of the institution, the national assessment and accreditation council (NAAC) has presented the college with five stars in 2002 with an ‘A’ grade and CGPA of 3.71/4 at NAAC re-accreditation in 2014. The expert committee on University Grants Commission (UGC), the government of India and government of Karnataka has renewed the authority status for six years from 2007-2008.
Sr Clare, A.C. the President of Alumnae Association welcomed and introduced the Chief Guest. A total of hundred and fifty alumnae were present. Anita Gomes, Graduate Assistant, St Mary’s Pre-University College, Mangaluru delivered the vote of thanks. Pavithra, Graduate Assistant, Carmel School, Mangaluru compered the programme.
