MP Kateel’s Quick Move to Open Pumpwell Flyover was to Avoid Criticism & Silence the Opposition

Mangaluru: Even though MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLC Ivan D’souza sit on the stage during progarmmes and chat, but off stage they both slam at each other on political or civic issues- and here is once again MLC Ivan D’souza slamming at MP Kateel over the Kankanady Pumpwell Flyover launching issue. During a press meet addressing the media persons MLC D’souza said, “DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has hastily opened the long pending Pumpwell Flyover in order to avoid further criticism and trolls, and also to silence the opposition , even as 50% of the works are yet to be completed”

“Seems like 10-12 years were not sufficient for MP Kateel to finish a single flyover. Half of the flyover work is still pending even after so many years since the work was started, and also the underpass proposed at Ujjodi and service roads around the flyover are incomplete, putting motorists and commuters life in hardship. His quick action to inaugurate the flyover was to save him from embarrassment. The service road near the flyover is all dilapidated, with potholes and there is not enough place for pedestrians to walk, in that heavy traffic, which is totally a safety hazard” added MLC Ivan.

MLC D’souza further said, “No doubt the flyover has been opened to traffic, but completely ignored the safety of the public. What was the need to inaugurate the flyover hastily, with shabby work? I bet it was done only to fulfill MP Kateel’s promise or else it would have missed yet another deadline out of multiple deadlines taht MP had assured in the past. The Fact-finding Congress committee members will once again visit the flyover to highlight the incomplete work, which may put the lives of motorists and public in danger”

Commenting on the Union budget, Ivan said, “The budget has totally ignored the farming community. It is a anti-farmer budget and anti-poor. They have reduced funds for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Scheme and automobile sector. There was a demand for separate railway sub-division for Mangaluru, which is also not fulfilled. No funds were announced for improving tourism in Dakshina Kannada. The budget is not DK Friendly”.

Well said by MLC Ivan D’souza, and in order to clarify his comments Teamn Mangalorean visited the flyover, and found out that the service road and the underpass are incomplete. Potholes and drainage construction along the stretch of the flyover is creating hardship for motorists, especially pedestrians during heavy traffic. There is pile of mud at the entrance of underpass, making it hard for four-wheelers to enter- and many cars were seen stuck in the mud. The safety of the public has been totally ignored, which needs to be rectified before people get injured or die.

Just check the budget allocated and funds used to making these flyover. Also check the structure of flyover approved during budget allocation. And now toll charges will be imposed for how many years to recovers these expenses. The whole picture will get to see.

Politicians are like Snakes. They have Two Tongues like Snake to shake both sides. Just look: You feed a Snake and hug but one day it bites you and OR kills you. Same way a Politician eats at fund raising and collects money with promises and after Elected they bite and give Cross Legs so You will fall. It is very difficult to catch a snake because it is slippery,Runs and Hides behind bushes. Same way a politician. Whatever wrong they do,hard to catch them because they slip out and hide behind Party Banner in Delhi. How much show they… Read more »
