MP Nalin Announces Surgical Strike against Yettinahole Project from Feb 10
Mangaluru: The surgical strike against the Yettinahole project and to lift the ban on Kambala, the NRSS announced the date for the Satyagraha in front of the statue of Dr Ambedkar at the Town Hall premises here on January 26.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Vijay Kumar Shetty and others garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhiji at the Gandhi park and later the Dr B R Ambedkar statue at the Town Hall premises.
Addressing the gathering, NRSS president Vijay Kumar Shetty said, “We have attended the meeting ibn Bengaluru which was called by the Chief minister. We thought that we will get justice but CM called for the meeting only for the sake of doing the meeting and nothing else. During the meeting, some of the politicians even used foul language violating all the procedures of the meeting.
Gandhiji has shown us the way of doing the Satyagraha, so we will start the Satyagraha to stop the project. We have also decided to do the surgical strike against the Yettinhaole project later. The Kudremukh project was also stopped after spending so much money. The ministers have neglected the Dakshina Kannada district. The government employees are the paid servants and they did not give any information regarding the project. We will continue our agitation. From February 6 to 10, there will be sessions and we hope the leaders from DK will raise their voice and do justice with the people of DK. MP Nalin Kumar was ready to resign as MP, but we stopped him from doing so because being an MP, if he takes part in the protest it will be fruitful. Janardhan Poojary is also supporting us.
Addressing the protesters MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “We have also held the Rathayatre against the Yettinahole project, after 26 January, if the government will not drop the Yettinahole project we carry out the surgical strike. The government had invited the committee members for the meeting but the meeting did not yield any fruit. The Kambala is also banned. Since the Kambala committee will also hold a protest on January 28, we have postponed our surgical strike and announced the Satyagraha on February 10. All the religious heads from all walks of life will take part in the protest. We believe in Gandhi’s principles, and this government came to power in the name of Gandhiji, if the government wants to stop our agitation, let them take a decision. We give them an opportunity to take the decision. If not we are ready to fight for justice.”
Harikrishna Bantwal said, “The Chief minister says that he will support the Kambala but to hold Kambala we need water, if there is no water we will not be able to hold the Kambala. To lift the ban on Kambala, politicians need to raise their voice but why are they not raising their voice against the Yettinahole project”, he questioned.
Roopa D Bangera, Sumitra Kariya, Meenakshi Shantigodu, M G Hegde, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Monappa Bhandary and others were also present.
