Put an End to Cattle Theft and Trafficking or Else, Warns MP Nalin Kumar

Mangaluru: “The issues troubling this district today are those related to cattle theft, cow slaughter, and illegal cow slaughterhouses. These incidents are happening a lot in this district. In the past, there have been many incidents of violence involving cow slaughter that has taken place in our district. Since the Siddaramiah government, cattle theft incidents began occurring. The BJP state government had introduced a cow protection law. But when the Congress government came to power, they got rid of the law. In order to prevent any future events of communal violence, we have formally requested the District Administration and the Police Department to put a stop to these incidents of cattle theft”, said Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press meet held at the BJP Office, Kodialbail here, on June 29.

Addressing the media persons Nalin Kumar said, “Along with the Udupi District MP and all the district BJP MLAs, we have appealed to the District Administration and reminded them of past incidents of communal violence in the district. Additionally, another big issue is the issue of illegal cow slaughterhouses. As per the records, there is only one legal cow slaughterhouse in all of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts combined. The rest of them are all illegal. These illegal slaughterhouses must be stopped immediately. There is also a law about illegal cow slaughter called the Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SCPA). Regarding the transportation of cows, a 2015 Act was introduced by the Central Government. The Act says that any vehicle transporting any animals must be registered by the RTO department as such. However, there is not even one permit issued by the RTO in this regard. Then, how are they transporting the cows?”

Nalin further said, “There must be 24×7 monitoring and special squads must be formed to catch the culprits who violate these laws. There are several incidents of Kerala residents stealing cows from our district. This must be stopped by creating check posts at the border.”

“In other news, I have spoken to the Finance Minister about the issues facing areca nut farmers of our district, particularly the import tax that is levied on them. I have also urged the Railway Minister to create a Zone Division Railway for our district. Infrastructure projects like the Kulshekhar-Karkala highway, BC Road-Punjalkatte-Charmadi highway, and other Bypass roads are also at different project stages. Mysore District MP Pratap Simha and I have appealed to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to sanction a four-lane highway connecting Mysore-Madikeri-Mangaluru”, he added.

MLA Vedvyas Kamath, BJP leaders Sudharshan, Kishore Rai, Captain Brijesh Choutha, Yuva Morcha leader Sandesh Shetty, and others were present.

Commendable action by MP. But do not stop at just giving press statement. Follow up please.
One more thing: Please get the facts checked by knowledgeable people because people will misuse your innocence and ignorance. SPCA is a society not a law. It is not relevant in the realm of law.
