MPL 2016 Player Auction! Who got Sold and Unsold Players?

In the Auction from the Icon pool, Naveen MG sold to Udupi Tigers for maximum limit prize of Rs.75,000, Thaha to Coastal Digest for Rs.73,000 and Jeeshan for Rs.70,000 to Surathkal Strikers, Sadik Kirmani for Rs.65000 to United Ullal, Deekanshu Nege for Rs.60000 to Spark Avengers, K. B. Pawan for Rs.42000 to Karkala Gladiators. Rahul Kotian, Lal Sachin, Rithesh Bhatkal, Sinan, Jahur, Sachin Bhat were sold for the maximum fixed prize of Rs.50000.00 from the A pool.

The players sold from A pool for more than Rs. 20000 are: Suhail, Adithya Rai, Manoj, Bipin K P, Pawan Gokhale, Nehal, Vrijesh, Mashuk, Nelsaon Pinto, Gaurav, Vikram, Ashish Dhar, Ibrahim Athradi. The Kankanady Knight Riders purchased Shivraj for Rs.56,000. Nikhil Kamath, Ayyappa, Abhilash Shetty, Sathyaswarup, Mutahir were sold for more than Rs. 20000 from B pool.

The following are present in the inaugural ceremony of the auction process: Arjun Kapikad, Film Actor, Jaheer from Almuzain company, Ismail of Realtech, Rathan Kumar, Chairman KSCA, Mangalore Zone, Shshidhar Kodical, Safthar, Ifthikar, Mansure, Yashpal Suvarna, Shukur Saheb . Sirajuddin welcomed the gathering. Imithiaz has conducted the Auction process.

Mangaluru: The eagerly awaited second edition of player auction of Mangalore Premier League Cricket Tournament organized by the Karnataka Regional Cricket Academy was held on 7th October at II Floor of Forum Fiza Mall from 3 pm onwards. The auction process was held in a professional way like IPL player auction. The list of players of Icon, A, B, C category had been finalized and already sent to the twelve team owners to feasible them to analyze the players, and to make a strategic plan. The third version of Mangalore Premier League will be held from 17th to 31st December 2016 at B. R. Ambedkar Cricket Stadium, NMPT, Mangalore. This Mega event will be held in association and guidance of Karnataka State Cricket Association.

There was plenty of drama, and even more calm at the MPL 2016 Player Auction – where some outstanding buys, some ridiculous money spent and some amazing snubs. In the auction, every team had the purse of its icon player with the base price of Rs 25,000 to purchase the players in the bidding. Every team should have minimum 16 and maximum 21 players. The 12 teams taking part in the tournament are: Surathkal Strikers, United Ullal, Udupi Tigers, Karavali Warriors Panambur, President Sixers Kundapur, Kankanady Knight Riders, Team Elegant Moodabidri, Red Hawks Kudla, Karkala Gladiators, Spark Avengers Bolar, Maestro Titans Central Mangaluru, and Coastal Digest-Mangaluru.

The organizers had made agreements with the 34 icon players who were selected based on the performance shown in the recently concluded KPL tournament. These icon players were from all over the places of Karnataka. It is mandatory to the teams to choose 2 icon players. There was a provision given to the owners to nominate one owner’s choice player which was already finalized by the owners.There was a list of 60 A category players. Every team had to choose 5 players from this category. Every team had to select minimum 2 and Maximum 3 players from B category. Also, there is a provision to select 10 players from C category. The players listed in A B C category were the players of Mangaluru Zone only.

A few icon players were: Pavan Deshpande, Sayed Kirmani, Arjun Hoysala, AbbAs, Gautham K, Taha, Rohan Kadam, Bharath, Dube, Anirudd Joshi, Naveen M.G., Kishore Kamath, Shivil, Siddartha. There was a provision to select one owner choice player for the owners. Accordingly, the teams had selected these players as owners choice player: Nishithraj, Karthik C A, K C Cariappa, Nithin Mulki, Mohammed Yasir, Sandeep Bhandari, Akshay Ballal, Asif Mohammed, Sadiq, Bharath Duri, Nihal Ullal, and Adithya Somanna.

Prof Balakrishna Maddodi, Media Chief, of MPL welcomed the gathering. Ismail from Real Tech, Coastalwood hero Arjun Kapikad from the Tulu movie ‘Barsa’, Zaheer from Al Muzain travels, among many others seated on the dais. Mohammed Mansoor also spoke. Imthiaz conducted the auction and rendered the vote of thanks.

The organizers had also made provision for live coverage through www.facebook/famecrick and www.famecrick.com. The organizers had invited the VVIPs, players, Cricket lovers and all to attend the auction event.
