Mr Modi When you think about our Women, we need to think of your Wife – Shareef on UCC

Mangaluru: The Muslim Central Committee in association with all the Muslim organisations from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts held a Convention on Safeguarding the Sharia Law at the Nehru Maidan here, on November 22.

The programme began with an invocation. Vice president of Muslim Central Committee Ibrahim Kodijal welcomed the gathering. Chief of Bambrana Juma Masjid B K Abdul Khader Musliyar Qasimi inaugurated the convention.

In his inaugural speech, Abdul Khader said that Muslim leaders were opposed to the move by the Union government to introduce Uniform Civil Code (UCC). “It is an impractical move. The Muslim community strongly opposes the Uniform Civil Code which was mooted 30 years ago. India has unity and diversity, and people from all walks of life live in the country. If the Uniform Civil Code is implemented, the harmony in the country will be at risk.”

Addressing the gathering, Moulana Abdul Azeez Darimi said, “Today, we are here to protect our Sharia law. We are ready for any sacrifice to protect the Sharia law. We have the power to shake the Parliament of Modi. If this bill is implemented, the Muslim Central Committee will be in the forefront to protect our personal laws. If necessary, we are ready to go from Mangaluru to Delhi. We, Muslims, are one and we need to raise our voice to preserve Sharia law. This is a religious fight for the Muslims of India and we will win our fight. The Supreme Court is in a hurry to implement the act. The Union government has submitted an affidavit and the law enforcement has asked questions. But we have thrown the questions to the Arabian sea. This is not like Kaun Banega Crorepati where there is just one answer. No one has the right to decide about Sharia law.”

Darimi further said that Modi has been talking about “surgical strikes”. “This tactic is necessary to fight against terrorism but it should not be applied to the Sharia law. Modi demonetized the Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes, and on the Rs 2000 notes, he has put his Mann ki Baath. This country has made a surgical strike on currency notes and now, the poor people are suffering. If anyone tries a surgical strike on religious matters or interferes with Sharia law, we are ready for any sacrifice. When Modi was speaking about ‘achhe din’, I was happy that good days will come but when he shook hands with Ambani and Neetha, we realised that the ‘acche din’ were only for Modi and not for anyone else. We have unity in diversity. We have hundreds of religions and languages. When there is ‘Pankti Bheda’, ‘made made snana’ and discrimination towards Dalits, why are the same people not bringing a Uniform Civil Code? Every person born in this country is free to practice his/her own religion.”

Darimi also questioned that even though Modi talks about Uniform Civil Code, would anyone be ready to give up wearing “Janivara”? Would anyone give up using the “nama”? “Has anyone suffered because of Sharia law? Why then is the government interfering with it? Today, if women are getting a share in the paternal property it is because of Sharia law. Modi should not interfere with it because it belongs to Muslims and it is our personal law. Muslims should not be targetted as criminals. Modi is worried about Muslim women and he is planning to implement UCC but he himself has failed to provide protection to his own wife. The Holy Quran has given equal rights to women in their ancestral property. We are not ready to accept the decision of the Union government implementing the UCC because they do not have any knowledge of Islam, Quran and the Sharia law. If there is any problem, we have leaders in our community to solve them. We do not need any interference from the government. Let Modi concentrate on the administration to give a good governance.”

Ummer Shareef from South Karnataka Salafi Movement speaking on the occasion said that when Modi came to power, the media became very active because Modi has purchased 20 to 30 TV channels. Even the Chief minister of Delhi, Kejriwal, is unable to express his views. Ambani alone has purchased 24 TV Channels, so where will we get the truth? After Modi came to power, we are unable to do anything freely, they have created fear through the Sangh Parivar. Today, we have all gathered here to raise our voice to protect Sharia law. The government is trying to divide and rule, but its interference in Sharia law has shown unity among Muslims.”

Shareef further said, “Be it Shias or Sunni, we are all Muslims; this identity is enough for us. If anyone tries to divide us, we need to fight back. Instead of Uniform Civil Code, let the government bring the “Uniform Civil Cloth” because Swamijis do not wear clothes; they walk on the roads semi-nude. Let the government bring Uniform Civil Code for them and see if they can implement it. Instead of that, the government is trying to interfere with Sharia law. Is the government ready to turn a Dalit into a Purohit through the Uniform Civil Code? Modi says that Muslim women are suffering under Sharia Law and he is raising his voice. When you so concerned about our women, we also need to be concerned about your wife. We feel pity for Jashodaben Narendrabhai Modi. Till date Jashodaben did not get the marriage certificate. She did not get a divorce and she is unable to get a passport. When your wife is suffering so much, why do you need to think about Muslim women? First, do justice with your wife and then talk about Muslim women.”

Shareef also laid down a challenge saying that Muslims should join hands to fight for justice. “If we are united, we can start 10 TV channels in a month. Arnab Goswami is a liar but the government is not taking any action against him. I respect the Mangaluru media and if you write my speech as it is I will declare that Mangaluru journalists are trustworthy and transparent.”

Where are ladies. Not even a single face seen here. Then hey talk of equality in Sharia. Law in India is only one and it applies to all. If you all so much behind Sharia law then let it apply for everything for Muslims. Death for murder, chop genital for rape, etc. These people Twist everything according to their benefit.

Though living in the 21st century the wheels of time have been jammed in the 7th century by being Sharia complaint. Countries ruled by Sharia are proof of the sheer disaster, and utter mess these countries are in. People learn from their mistakes, a look at Sharia ruled countries will convince most people that something doesn’t seem right, but this rule clearly does not apply here.
