MRPL Flags Off Its First Toluene Parcel

Mangalore: In a landmark event for the Indian petrochemical sector, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) commenced the dispatch of its inaugural Toluene shipment on [insert date]. The parcel was officially flagged off by Shri Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath, Managing Director of MRPL, at the Aromatic Complex located within the Mangalore Special Economic Zone Limited (MSEZL).

The occasion was attended by a distinguished group of dignitaries, including Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai, Director (Refinery), BHV Prasad, Executive Director (Projects), B. Sudarshan, Executive Director (Refinery), and CFO Yogish Nayak S, alongside other senior officers of MRPL. This event marks a crucial milestone in MRPL’s commitment to bolstering self-reliance in the chemical production sector.

The introduction of Toluene, a significant aromatic hydrocarbon utilized in various industrial applications, was initially announced by the Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, during his recent visit to the refinery. This development is expected to play a vital role in diminishing India’s reliance on imported chemicals, thereby reinforcing the nation’s industrial capabilities and driving economic growth. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the Government of India’s ambitious goal of achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

The flagging off of MRPL’s first Toluene parcel signals a promising step forward in the company’s journey towards achieving sustainable and autonomous production capabilities, contributing positively to the overall economic landscape of the country.
