MRPL, MBC, MACC and WeRC Hold ‘Saksham Cycle Day’ 2020
Mangaluru: “Saksham Cycle Day” is an initiative from Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, supported by Oil Companies to promote citizen-centric initiatives about the need & ways to conserve petroleum products. MRPL in association with Mangalore Bicycle Club, Mangalore Cycling Club, WER Cycling and and Cycling Buddies. organized “Saksham Cycle Day” for the general public to promote the use of cycles here on January 19.
The cycle rally was flagged off by the MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency Vedavyas Kamath. More than 600 cyclists participated in the cycle rally.
Speaking to mangalorean.com MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, “MRPL has organized the cycle rally to promote the use of cycles for short distances, improve fitness and protect the environment. MRPL organizes various programmes as part of CSR and today they have organized the cycle rally. Children, women and men participated in large numbers. I would like to congratulate all the participants for coming here early in the morning to take part in the rally.”
MLA Vedavyas further said, “It is PM Modi’s dream of healthy India where citizens should give priority to fitness and healthy environment. Today, MRPL has organized the Saksham Cycle Day. The Cycle rally is to create awareness among the people about the conservation of fuel and protecting the environment. The cycle rally will also bring awareness among the people and improve their fitness level and save fuel which will help to create a clean and green environment. I pray to God for the smooth conduct of the rally and that all riders complete it without any problems.”
The rally which was flagged off in front of the MCC passed through Ladyhill – Urwa Store – Infoysis – Stadium road and culminated at Bharath Scouts and Guides Bhavan.
CGM Projects Krishna Hegde, CGM -PE & PP V Nandakumar, CGM PE Sudhir Pai, GM Production Planning Praveen Pinto and senior Officials of MRPL were also present.
