The deceased Yathish and Bharath residents of Kota were brutally murdered by Rowdy sheeter Harish Reddy gang on Saturday night over the toilet pit issue. Deceased Yathish had worked as an assistant to Rakesh Malli in last Assembly elections and Bharath was working as an Auto driver in Kota. It is said that the duo had tried to settle a dispute regarding a drainage pit near their friend Lohith’s house.

On Saturday late night, Yathish and Bharath were attacked by Harish Reddy’s gang with deadly weapons near the Rajalaxmi Auditorium in Kota. Both were rushed to the Manipal Hospital where they were declared brought dead. After the post-mortem, their bodies were brought to their home town, Kota.

Angry village residents, relatives and friends of the victims staged a road roko carrying the dead bodies near the Kota bus stand on NH 66 and demanded that the culprits be arrested immediately.

Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi along with MLC and opposition leader of the Council Kota Srinivas Poojary rushed to the spot and requested the protesters to vacate the blocked road.

He also assured the public that the police were working to arrest the culprits as early as possible. It is an unfortunate incident that both families have lost their breadwinners. “I have formed four teams to nab the accused,” said SP Nimbargi and requested the protesters to perform the last rights of two youth in a smooth manner. He also assured the residents that the persons responsible for the murder of both the youth would be caught.

After the request by SP, the protesters called off the protest and took the bodies to the victims’ house to conduct the last rites. SP Nimbargi later visited the houses of both the victims and consoled the family members.
