“Time flies, a year blossoms to decades, but the spirit goes on…”
Muscat: Every year, year after year, the Bunts of Oman have been looking forward to community events and the time spent together during the Annual Sports Day and a Family day, apart from the Annual get together showcase the traditions and rich cultural heritage of the community. They have continued the events over a period of twenty seven get-togethers, and moving on to the 28th, this year, the dedicated group of members of Buntara Vaibhava 2015 embarked on their 28th milestone.
To commemorate their 28 years of togetherness in Oman, the organizing team of Bunts of Oman conducted a grand, twin eventful sports fiesta for the bunts in Oman. The first part of the Sports Meet consisted of a cricket tournament. The cricket tournament was held at the GPDCO ground in Al Khuwair, Oman. The annual sports event concluded with a family fun day which was thoroughly enjoyed by the members and well attended by a large number of bunt families residing in Oman. This year’s event was titled as Buntara Vaibhava 2015 showcasing the grandeur and extraordinary cultural heritage of the bunts.
Inaugural Moments – Cricket: The Cricket tournament was inaugurated by senior Bunt members, Rathnakar Shetty and Bhaskar Shetty, by popping open a confetti shooter.
Exciting Finale: Sumuka Friends and Guthu XI, reached the finals, after facing strong competition from the other teams. In a close encounter and a nail biting final match, Guthu X1 team from Sohar beat Sumuka Friends to win the finals.
Family Funday: The entire team of members of the organizing committee, enthusiastically conducted the day long event. They kept the tempo all through and the event witnessed active participation, with the spirit of togetherness.
Inaugural Start: Jagannath Rai, a senior bunt member, inaugurated the event by releasing a bunch of colorful balloons. An assortment of different games such as volley ball, throw ball, ladies cricket, and other fun games were held for all age groups. The Ladies wing of the Buntara Vaibhava team managed the entire proceedings of the event efficiently. They sought to and conducted interesting and exciting fun games for the entire family under different categories.
Winners and Runners
Cricket Tournament: Winners were Guthu XI and runners up were Sumuka Friends. Participating teams were Bunt strikers, Buntara Javaner, Buntara Chavadi, Kayyara Kinhanna Rai(KKR team), Ramee Royals, Guthinar XI, Kateel Bunts, Kudla Friends-A, Kudla Friends-B, Pokri Bunts-A, Pokri Bunts-B, Sahara.
Volleyball: Winners were Sumuka Friends and runners up were Sahara A. Participating teams were Buntara Javaner, KKR, Namma Kudla, Sahara-B, Pokri Bunts-A, Pokri Bunts-B, Guthinar XI, Guthu XI, Kateel Bunts, Muscat Bunts-A, Muscat Bunts-B.
Throwball (Women): Winners were Karavali Bunts and runners up were Guthu XI. Participating teams were V-Friends, Muscat Bunts.
Women’s Cricket: Winners were Guthu XI and runners up were V-Friends. Participating teams were Karavali Bunts, Bunts XI.
Tug of war (Men): Winners were Sumuka Friends and runners up were Pokri Bunts. Participating teams: Kateel Bunts, KKR, Buntara Javaner, Muscat Friends, Guthu XI.
Tug of War (Women): Winners were Karavali Bunts and Runners up were Guthu XI. Participating Teams: V-Friends, Fun Friends.
The organising committee members, dressed in a perfect color code, worked successfully, on the arrangements to put up the activities.
Buntara Vaibhava 2015, Annual Sports and Family Fun Day, culminated with the members getting together with the spirit of joy, enthusiasm and partaking in the activities.
“Overall the Cricket tournament and the family sports day was a grand success with keen and joyful participation of large number of bunts. We are thankful to all the participants and sponsors of the event. We are expecting the same enthusiasm for the upcoming bunts annual get together which will be held on 13th Nov 2015 at Le Grand Hall, Al Falaj Hotel, Ruwi,” said the Buntara Vaibhava 2015 team.
