Muslim Brethren Celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with Festive Fervor
Udupi : Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated with pomp and gaiety in different parts of the district on Wednesday, July 6.
The Id-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan.
A large number of Muslims assembled at Idgahs (open grounds) and mosques in the morning and offered special thanksgiving qutba prayers, which marked the end of the fasting month of Ramzan. The Masjid on Jamiaya, Indrali, Noorani Mosque Brahmagiri, Jumma Masjid near the City Bus Stand were overcrowded with devotees.
As the Ramzan fasting came to an end on Tuesday evening, the Eid-Ul-Fitr, that is the sighting of the Moon, was celebrated on Wednesday.
A large congregation of Muslims participated in the special prayers held at the Jamia Masjid in Udupi. Muslim brethren began the day by offering special prayers. Dressed in finest clothes, they greeted each other and along with friends.
Soon after the namaz was over, people hugged each other as per the tradition and mosques reverberated with cries of “Eid Mubarak”.
The Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah by offering prayers in open spaces in the congregation.
Eid prayers were also held at Kaup, Malpe, Brahmavar, Hejamadi, Kundapur, and Gangolli . The Udupi Town Police had beefed up security in and around various Masjids to avoid any untoward incidents.
