Muslim Brethren celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr with Great Devotion in Udupi District

Udupi: Thousands of Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr across the district with gaiety and religious fervour here, on June 25.

After offering prayers in various Mosques in the district, Muslims exchanged greetings with each other.

A large number of devotees thronged Masjids to offer Eid prayers, which marked the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. The Masjids in Jamiaya, Indrali, Noorani Mosque Brahmagiri, Jumma Masjid near the City Bus Stand were overcrowded with devotees.

As the Ramadan fasting came to an end on Saturday evening, the Eid-Ul-Fitr, that is the sighting of the Moon, was celebrated on Sunday in the coastal districts.

Thousands of Muslim brethren were dressed in their immaculate new dress and thronged the many Mosques in the city to offer Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer to the Almighty.

The Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah by offering prayers in open spaces in congregations.

Eid prayers were also held at Kaup, Malpe, Brahmavar, Hejamadi, Kundapur, and Gangolli. Devotees also prayed for communal harmony and for the welfare of the country on the occasion.

The Udupi Town Police had beefed up security in and around various Masjids to avoid any untoward incidents.

I do respect the Islam religion, how the rich and poor sit on the floor worshiping, the equality and humility in worshiping GOD. A religion keeps true equality in worship and burial, the rich and the powerful can’t display their ego march in both cases; which declares the spiritual lesson that we are all equal before GOD.

Choicest greetings at this holy season.

Islam is what is written in the Qur’an, The Hadith and Sira (biography of the Prophet) and it has very little or nothing to do with people.
