Muslim Brethren Celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr With Great Devotion In Shivamogga
Shivamogga: Thousands of Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr across the district with gaiety and religious fervour here, on June 26.
After offering prayers in various Mosques in the district, Muslims exchanged greetings with each other. A large number of devotees thronged the “Eidga“ to offer Eid prayers, which marked the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Thousands of Muslim brethren dressed in their immaculate new dress thronged to many Mosques in the city to offer Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer to the Almighty. The festival marks the culmination of fasting and the Holy month of Ramadan. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on Monday, Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari said on Sunday.
Following the announcement, people hit the streets for last minute shopping of groceries, new clothes, footwear and other items for celebrating Eid. Especially Gandhi Bazar, Nehru Road and City Center, the new landmark was fully crowded.
Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.
EID-UL-FITR (RAMZAN EID) FESTIVAL
Eid-ul-Fitr festival has been declared as the gazetted holiday all over India which gets celebrated at the end of Ramadan month indicating the 1st day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It is the festival of breaking fast in the end of Ramadan month (also known as the “Islam’s month of fasting” means the month of fasting and prayer). People from the Muslim community go for the community prayers, listen khutba (means sermon) and help people by donating required things while celebrating the festival.
They celebrate this festival as the first Eid of the year whereas Eid al-Adha is the second Eid. Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated all over the world at the end of holy Ramadan as well as 1st day of Shawwal month. A special prayer is offered during this celebration called Salat or Islamic prayer in an open field or any large hall. They continue their fast in the faith of God till last day of the Ramadan month during which they pay “Zakat and fitra” before Eid prayers.
In the end of the prayer all the community members who were present on the Eidga wish Eid Mubarak to all.
