Muslim Brethren celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr with Great Devotion in Udupi District

Udupi: Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr across the district with gaiety and religious fervour here, on Friday, June 15.

A large number of devotees thronged Masjids to offer Eid prayers, which marked the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. The Masjid on Jamiaya, Indrali, Noorani Mosque Brahmagiri and Jumma Masjid near the City Bus Stand were overcrowded with devotees.

As the Ramadan fasting came to an end on Thursday evening, the Eid-Ul-Fitr, that is the sighting of the Moon, was celebrated on Friday.

Thousands of men and children clad in new clothes offered prayers in Idgahs and Mosques. After offering prayers in various Mosques of the district, Muslims exchanged greetings with each other.

Thousands of Muslims went to Mosques and offered prayers on the culmination of the month-long Ramadan. There were special prayers for the prosperity of the community and the country.

The Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah by offering prayers in open spaces in congregations.

Eid prayers were also held at Kaup, Malpe, Brahmavar, Hejamadi, Kundapur, and Gangolli. Devotees also prayed for communal harmony and welfare of the country on the occasion.

The Udupi District Police had beefed up security in and around various Masjids to avoid any untoward incidents.
