Muslim Fraternity Celebrates Eid-Ul-Fitr After Month-long Fasting
Mangaluru: After a month of fasting and prayer, a large congregation of Muslims assembled at the Idgah Masjid on Light House Hill Road to offer Eid prayers here, on June 25.
On June 25, at 8:00 am, Muslim brothers, from children to elders, dressed in traditional white clothes, gathered in large numbers at various Mosques and Dargahs in the city.
At the Idgah Masjid on Light House Hill Road, prayers were held at 8:00 am. Thousands of Muslim brethren gathered at the Masjid to offer prayers. After the prayers, they embraced each other exchanging greetings and well wishes.
Speaking to mangalorean.com Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader said, “I wish each and everyone Happy Eid Mubarak. The Holy Ramadan Month has come to an end today. With one month of fasting and sacrifice and helping the needy people in the society each one of us should change our personality and thinking. I am sure that our personality which has changed in this one month should continue throughout the year and we should become the best citizens of the society. Every festival in this region gives the message that we all are one and we all should live happily.”
Police Commissioner Suresh speaking to mangalorean.com said, “The Muslim fraternity observed a one-month fasting very peacefully. They have co-operated with the district administration and the police department. Today they are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. The morning prayers went on very peacefully. I wish all the Muslim brethren, Eid Mubarak.”
I wish non-muslim minorities also had same level of freedom and safety to celebrate their festivals in Islamic societies. I am really glad to see that sanaathana dharma has allowed all minorities to live and prosper for 19 centuries. Someone needs to tell this to AS Mathew before he starts spewing his hatred again.
