Muslim Organizations Condemn Union Govt’s Interference in Sharia Law
Mangaluru: The Union government is interfering in the Sharia law of Islam by opposing the triple Talaq system and submitting an affidavit in the Supreme court. which the entire Muslim community strongly condemns said, the Muslim Central Committee in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on October 27.
Addressing the mediapersons Former MLC and President of the Muslim Central Committee K S Mohammed Masood said, “The Indian constitution has given freedom to the citizens to practise their religion. The Muslim community condemns the interference of the court or the government in this matter. Sharia is the religious law governing the members of the Islamic faith. To interfere in the Sharia law the Triple Talaq issue has been raised. If there are any errors in the Talaq system, there are religious heads to do the necessary corrections. If any person suffers because of the Sharia law he/she can come to us to find the solution. The interference of the government or court in the matters of Sharia law is not acceptable. If the law is misused it is not the problem of the particular law. There is no need for any interference in the Sharia law,” Masood clarified.
Masood further said, “In Islam divorce is not only limited to men, women can also divorce their husbands. The Muslim Personal Law Board in the entire country has condemned the move of the Union government and they have started a signature campaign from men and women from the Muslim community to oppose the move”.
“The All India Milli Council has contacted the Muslim leaders to oppose the move of the Union government and started a signature campaign. In this regard the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Muslim central committee have also started the signature campaign to protest against this move”, said Masood.
Muslim leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Rafiuddin Kudroli, Mohammed Haneef, Saduddin M Sali, K M Sheriff, Yahya Naqvi, Mohammed Haneef, K Ashraf and others were also present.
