Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with traditional fervor in Bhatkal

Bhatkal:  Eid-ul-Adha, a festival of sacrifice was celebrated in Bhatkal on Monday with traditional fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration will continue for four days.
Thousands of Muslims thronged Masjids in the morning and offered prayers. They also hugged one another wishing everyone “Eid Mubarak”.

Eid prayers were offered at all Jamia Masjids, Qazi Khaleefa Jamatul Muslimeen Moulana Khwaja Moinuddin Akrami Nadvi led prayer at Khaleefa Masjid, Moulana Abdul Aleem Nadvi at Jamia Masjid, Moulana Ameen Nadvi at Noor Masjid, Moulana Niyamatullah Askeri at Makhdoomiya Masjid, Moulana Ansar Khateeb at Tanzeem Jamia Masjid and Moulana Peshmam at Bilal Jamia Masjid.
After the prayers, the chief Qazi of Khaleefa Jamaat ul Muslimeen Bhatkal Maulana Khwaja Madani Akrami delivered the sermon in front of a huge gathering, in Arabic, later translated into Urdu. In his sermon, he spoke about the significance of the religious ritual and the obligation of Muslims towards it.
In his Khutbah he offered Eid greetings to all and requested the people to maintain peace and harmony in the town. He said that the Qurbani is a sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The main objective of this ritual is to remember the supreme sacrifice offered by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and to sacrifice our wishes in front of Allah’s command.

He said, Prophet Ibrahim A.S was able to sacrifice his son, Allah replaced Prophet Ismail A.S with a sheep, thus, sparing his life, that is why Muslims remember this momentous event by sacrificing sheep, camel and ox and sharing the meat from the sacrifice, especially with the poor, he added.
At the end, Maulana prayed for world peace, unity among Muslim nations, progress for the people and the country’s prosperity.
After prayers, believers hugged each other reinforcing the sense of brotherhood and harmony. Eid procession was taken out after prayers.
The festival is celebrated on the 10th day of Zul Hijjah, which is the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.
The festival falls 70 days after the month of Ramzan and is celebrated after the Haj, the annual pilgrimage to Makkah in Saudi Arabia.
